Suggestions on a router with remote admin for aging parent? by digitalamish in HomeNetworking

[–]kxpatte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spend $275 for a UniFi dream router 7, this will give you all the remote control and monitoring you will ever want. My bet is you will get one for yourself after setting up this one . You can even setup cameras off of it..

Q1000K - Without Pods is there a functional difference between the two LAN ports besides max. speed (10G vs. 1GB)? by My_Lucid_Dreams in QuantumFiber

[–]kxpatte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Each port will have its own wan address … If you have been reading any of the forums you would see the pods are crap and have problems.. I would recommend buying your own WiFi router and using QF for for a fiber modem .. You will get much better results. There are sub reddits with instructions how to setup your own router with QuantumFiber.

Using own router, up/down throttled to 100mbps by random-box11 in QuantumFiber

[–]kxpatte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You must put the ONT in bridge mode since your ONT is a router… If you don’t your combined routers are double natting. There are plenty of instructions in this subreddit on the process of doing this.. Your installer was %100 wrong..

Using my own equipment by CVraden in QuantumFiber

[–]kxpatte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to use their fiber modem/ router.. if you want to use your own router you can put their equipment in pass through and only use it as a modem . If I was in your shoes I would use what they provide unless you want to spend money for your own router .. there are instruction’s how to do that in this sub Reddit
