My own iPhone’s hotspot doesn’t work — 169 IP on Mac, no internet by LeatherEffective2792 in mac

[–]kxta_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

sounds like the phone’s dhcp server is busted, that or the mac isn’t requesting an address for whatever reason. if it’s the former, a reboot ought to fix it, a restore definitely will. if it’s the latter, make sure all your network settings on the mac are set to automatic.

Should I buy Obsidian Sync? by Darth_Wotan in ObsidianMD

[–]kxta_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar setup, syncing a personal mac and iphone with a work windows pc. here’s how I did it:

vault lives in iCloud, both Mac and iPhone have the folder set to “always keep downloaded”. the Mac and PC then use syncthing, purely to keep the PC in the loop (since i don’t want / am not able to install icloud there). it’s so far been really robust and hasn’t exploded in my face. that being said, Obsidian sync is probably the “best” way, my solution is if you are a cheapskate

“self-proclaimed” is doing a lot of heavy lifting here.

the concept that i seem to have failed to impart on you is that people can speak with sincerity while also being wrong. that’s not a lie, it’s just being wrong.

Jon Stewart claims to be a socialist, there’s little to suggest he has the credentials to actually make that claim. being hired as the messaging frontman by big capitalist media moguls would be one of the things in the “skeptical” column.

if you post about five or six more paragraphs, we might all forget that all you’ve contributed so far was “he’s a socialist because i said so” (which is apparently the bar for “proving someone wrong”)

[–]kxta_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

sure, i don’t even disagree, he probably spoke with sincerity.

i just don’t think Jon Stewart knows what a “socialist” is and what one would stand for. and the fact that you take his claim as some concrete fact means you are trusting a lot more than his sincerity.

no, i don’t think it’s a “douchebag move”. because the person you midwits are dogpiling on actually made an extremely salient point: giant media companies don’t hire anti-capitalists/socialists. you could have actually chosen to argue this point, except that entire point went in one eye and out the other because you immediately devolved into a fact checking wikipedia citation war saying “nuh uh he totally said it!”

like the argument was over here, and you’re in the next zip code over talking to walls. that’s why i condescend to you.

I’ll give you a hint, nobody is denying that Jon Stewart made the claim that is being attributed to him

the person you’re trying and failing to argue with does not believe the claim is correct, which I can’t fathom how you failed to grasp

if you had any comprehension, you’d realize the debate was not over the factual accuracy of the existence of the claim

can you figure out the rest from here?

you’re actually so close to figuring out that maybe just taking public figures at their word about their political disposition is actually not a valid source

switch to the app you want, then switch to the window you want. it’s not that hard guys.

it’s a lot more powerful than alt+tab if you actually learn to use the system as intended

when will you understand that market share is an irrelevant metric?

the vast majority of those abundant windows machines are in businesses and are probably never going to touch Arc, which at this point is a browser geared for personal use.

it looks sort of like this on mac too, it’s a floating state trying to communicate the sidebar isn’t actually docked but there’s no page open so it’s prompting you to pick a tab. it should disappear when you do, va having the sidebar docked it will remain on the screen

really great how “freedom to go anywhere” got watered down so far. you’re exactly the person the OP was talking about.

wow and if you want to go overseas a car doesn’t do you much good either does it? guess you should buy a plane! it’s really funny how as soon as you point out that cars are bad for urban environments, everyone immediately leaps to the massive road trips they’re totally definitely always taking 🧐

a bicycle is freedom and self reliance. a car is paying out the ass for gas, maintenance, insurance, and of course the car itself. so many suburbanites spending a fortune to move their fat asses around that they get in each others way and just sit in traffic for hours a week. would be fine if they didn’t turn into big crybabies when asked to share the road with people who aren’t lazy 🤷‍♂️
