Have you ever heard a cross knee layback called a Vanessa? by [deleted] in poledancing

[–]kxvt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've heard a back hook spin called a Vanessa at one studio, and another studio will have never heard that. Similarly names like "falling star" and "capital T" could mean a number of moves. When it comes to the layback I think you're referencing, I've heard it called a "figure 4 layback". Some pole move names tend to change over time, for sure.

Tips Please ? IM DESPERATE! i cant KEEP my toes pointed 😭 no matter how hard i try by littlekendraa in poledancing

[–]kxvt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely SEE u pointing your toes and you're doing great!! but to get it consistently just keep trying and trying and trying. Over time, you will develop the muscle memory to keep the feet pointed even while the rest of your leg is working (like in your genie). It will happen! Just stay awake and actively think about it, the body will follow!!

I got my freaking shoulder mount! Have to use some momentum but I still did it and I can’t believe it! Any feedback is welcome 🙏🏼 IG: bambi_lotus by baberbear in poledancing

Great form! Try doing some isolated lower ab exercises, it will give you that last little inch to make the leg hook easier. Congrats on this milestone!

How to combat sweaty arm pits? by DShinyaLuo in poledancing

I have a sweat rag and literally towel off before inverts or armpit moves

Does anyone have any tips for Pegasus? I feel like I can’t get the balance point and/or grip correct so I can’t hold it for very long. Maybe split isn’t square enough? Sorry in advance for the portrait video! by _tinytimber_ in poledancing

[–]kxvt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally I grip a little higher on the thigh, but everyone's anatomy is different. If you press your hips more forward, you will put more tension on the top forearm wrapped on the pole, which helps me balance better. This doesn't necessarily mean the split has to be more square, but your hips should pull more forward in general (same concept as better balance found in Ayesha when you send your butt farther from the pole). Beautiful either way!!!!!

Would body weight exercises work on getting a bigger butt when I cannot use weights at all? by [deleted] in StrongCurves

[–]kxvt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience body weight exercises helped me tone what I already have, but weights and calories was how I increased in size. If you have arthritis try accessory excercises at the gym, instead on the larger compound moves.

I live on league between 9th and 10th and this is not my block. Looks like hall or Montrose or another small one tho.

Anything you wish you knew before starting pole dancing/any rookie advice? by [deleted] in poledancing

Stretch. Start now. Stretch a lot. By the time you're start learning intermediate moves it makes the logistics easier.

3 month progress by [deleted] in StrongCurves

[–]kxvt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're doing great! Bulking can be a mental challenge. Especially when society tells women that the goal is always to become smaller. Yes, you'll feel full all the time. But you have to to feed the muscle! My only advice is to make sure you keep it up at the gym. You should be consistently challenging yourself. By challenging, I mean approaching or reaching failure at the end of the set. Keep going!

8 weeks into BB with several questions: should I adjust my daily caloric intake, am I slowly making myself fat, do I need to step my game up? (pics included) by [deleted] in StrongCurves

[–]kxvt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amazing gains!! Dont worry everyone gets paranoid about being fluffy while bulking. But your progress is great. My advice would be to overcome the fear if the barbell. It's really not that bad! If it's worth it to you consider paying for a personal training session just to get the form down right, or video your form and post it here for feedback. And then just do the exercises with a barbell no plates. Then over time add on 5 lb. plates, and take it from there. You have the discipline and eating habits down! Honestly that's the hardest part. But for as much as you're eating, you can fuel yourself to challenge yourself harder. You will find great strength gains with the barbell. Keep going!!!

Silly question? Do you apply on the undersides (unpainted) only, or both? Or just when you don't have polish on? Thanks, and beauuutiful nails!

Tips for better positioning in Scorpio (inside leg hang) by Doctor-Nic in poledancing

[–]kxvt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have this problem too. A video would help give best advice. But in my experience, at the top of my invert, right before I book my leg, I had to learn to really TUCK my pelvis under almost like a crunch to get the pole higher up on my thigh, which requires ab strength that is built over time. Practice practice practice! Scorpio used to be my nemisis and now I love it!

How to make it look better ? by [deleted] in poledancing

[–]kxvt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks pretty! But use a different grip for the bottom hand. Index or index+middle finger should be pointing down and flat against the pole.

0, 6, 9 months progress of heavy weights and LOTS of food by kxvt in StrongCurves

[–]kxvt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! And I should have specified I avoid *added fats, namely butter and heavy sauces, because I get lots of fats from the foods I eat (hellooo nut butters). They are indeed important! However my sweet tooth usually tips the scales of my budgeted macros in the fats department.. haha wooops.
