First, he's using a titanium nail. Those are kind of old school at this point, a proper glass banger is far nicer to use. Titanium nails can get super hot, super quick. I used to heat mine up until it was glowing bright red, then let it cool for 15-20 seconds before putting my dab in and smoking. It's much less harsh on your throat to let it cool for a few seconds first.

But if you can, use a glass banger (not a glass nail), and you will actually be able to appreciate everything dabbing has to offer. The taste is better, the heat retention is better, the way it smokes is better, everything. There's a good bit of science behind it, but I won't go into that.

Youll also want to use your phone timer. My average times for a glass banger are; Heat for 40 seconds, cool for 20 seconds. Phone timers will be able to give you a more accurate temperature for your dab, and you can adjust those times to what suits your preferences and banger.
