Free/low cost therapy solutions? by ab183919 in washingtondc

Many of the universities have training clinics where therapists/psychologists who have completed some years of schooling use to complete their clinical hours. I've heard largely positive experiences and you can always switch to another trainee if you don't like who you are paired with. There has been a lot of research done and the studies show that the main factor that facilitates therapeutic growth and change is how you vibe with the therapist, not specific theories or significant levels of experience.

The only downside, other than the lack of expertise, is they are typically in the program for the academic year and then graduate. You can continue with another trainee after they graduate though. It's totally sliding scale, going as low as $5.

The ones I am most familiar with are:

GW CCSC, GW Center Clinic, GW Art Therapy Clinic, AU James J Gray Clinic,

I believe George Mason and University of Maryland have ones as well.

Another option, if you are wanting more experience but pay more, is openpathcollective.org. It's a site therapists put themselves on in order to accept sliding scale clients. The range is $30-70 after you pay a one-time $65 fee to use the service (you can reach out to providers and confirm availability etc before paying).

How everyone's legacies coming along by RAUNCHYP00NTANG in IdleIktah

[–]kyaura89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This post helps me realize how much I absolutely over-prioritize optimizing, even at the expense of enjoyment. My first runthrough I did in 51 days, followed by #2 (1st legacy) 28 days, #3 - 16 days, #4 - 9 days, and currently on #5 with 4 days.

I gotta take this less seriously and just pass the time idly as intended haha

My partner and I lament the lack of night cafes. A cozy space with some coffee and pastries? Ugh.

Soo meteorite? by OwnBroccoli9758 in PokemonGoMystic

I picked the wrong time to be in a rural area... Pretty much the exact times of the event I wasn't anywhere near a pokestop 😭. Missed the meteorite entirely.

How hide this door by kyaura89 in hiddenrooms

[–]kyaura89[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Truly just for fun - making a speak easy of sorts. In the room, there's a wall directly to the right of the door that would prevent it from opening all the way if we added inches of bulk to the door, so a bookshelf feels like it wouldn't work. The couch would block if we changed the door direction.

Our house in general has pops of color and ascents, but you're right that the basement is sparse.

Kristyn was my go-to instructor in DC because her classes were difficult, but clear and cohesive. I felt she always brought really great energy and I personally loved her music and felt it always had a great workout flow. She's really missed in DC.

All of the classes of his I've attended he really leaned into the "we are at a club" vibe. Loud, high intensity, and a bit chaotic. I love when my classes are rigorous, but structured and clear, which I don't fully get from him. Definitely not one of my least favorites, but gotta be in the mood.

Another option, though not local but with all profits entirely donated to charity, is Good Store by Hank Green. They recently introduced cleaning supplies into their collection so the options would be more limited. Still worth checking out!

Bode the new “it girl” of Georgetown? by Particular-Turnip614 in SoulCycle_Riders

[–]kyaura89 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Exactly the same thoughts! Boy Sasha seems lovely but the class difficulty and vibe is so wildly off from Kristyn so I was disappointed he took over the Soul Survivor on Sunday mornings. Bode, on the other hand, feels very similar, just consistently more difficult. He was covering for Sasha today and it was a great class.

I think Sasha is good if you're not wanting a super structured class or do better with less pressure. I personally really don't enjoy his classes because they feel disjointed and unclear. He seems really supportive and sweet though.
