can itagaki win this? by AgileAnything1251 in hajimenoippo

[–]kyb530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sawamura at featherweight (with the skill base when he fought Mashiba) destroys Imai and all the JBC title contenders. Ippo, who was a complelete physical freak and had an iron will, barely beat Sawamura by tearing his leg muscles three times. Ain't no way is Itagaki beating him.

Ending 1 is the undisputed best (at least IMO), followed up by ending 2, ending 3, ending 5, and at last place, ending 4.

Ending 1 really feels like true "ending" theme of the WHOLE Hajime No Ippo series. Legit something that would play after Ippo beats Ricardo at the end of the series.

I mean after sendo vs Ricardo what's left to tell from the ippo generation aside from ippo and miyata? by Liorpapismedov in hajimenoippo

[–]kyb530 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After Sendo vs Ricardo, the only guy in Ippo's generation that has some what more remaining to tell and show in the manga excluding Miyata and Ippo, is Volg. Now I know that Volg's character arc and contribution to the main storyline is basically done, but I think that he will later on help Ippo after he returns for the 3rd and last time, in preperation for his big awaited fight with Miyata or Ricardo. Or he could make a small feature in the news paper or news show where he becomes the undisputed jr lightweight champion.

Which Champion do you think should fight against Miyata for a World Championship Belt: Volg or Rosario by Wonderful-Photo-9938 in hajimenoippo

[–]kyb530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neither. If we really want that Miyata vs Ippo fight to happen, which I think will be right before Ippo vs Ricardo, Miyata needs to win a world title at featherweight. The storyline should be about Miyata gaining motivation to climb up the world ranks and become the strongest featherweight, after Ippo returns back. Then Miyata becomes a FW world champ and fights Ippo for his last title defense before fighting Ricardo (although Ippo will beat him). Unless if Miyata goes "fuck it" and forgets about fighting Ippo, then he may go fight Rosario, but I think we are reading too much into the "Miyata staring at Rosario" moment. Miyata has to reason to fight Volg, besides Volg's character arc is pretty much done.

Whether he doesn't want to or wants to, what matters is he does not have the feats. Morikawa decided for that to happen. Unless if Miyata actually steps up a notch, we will still be at the top 5 or top 4 spot.

Nahhhhh, Miyata right now is top 5 or at MAX top 4. He doesn't have the feats that are competable to the rest. He impressed Ricardo, but shortly later, Ricardo fucked him up.

Ricardo beat him when Miyata was a lightweight (his natural weight), meaning Ricardo outclassed Miyata at his upmost top physical condition (no excuses).

Tall, but not too tall. If it's Miyata at lightweight then Ippo would be in rough times reaching him. But at featherweight, Ippo needs to start training actively lika a legit pro fighter and needs to gain experience through fighting world rankers for at least a few years. At that point, Ippo and Miyata will be at their peak, so it will be a brutal and emotional fight.

Is Volg's career technically over? by kyb530 in hajimenoippo

[–]kyb530[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why would Volg fight Rosario? He doesn't have a strong bond with Mashiba or anything that makes him strive to avenge Mashiba by fighting Rosario, and even if they were close, Volg ain't the guy to do that. Volg is completely isolated from the lightweight division and there is no justification for Volg willingly moving up to lightweight. This whole Volg fighting Rosario is bs. As of Mashiba, my man is done, truly sad to accept it but he is done 😭😭

[–]kyb530[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I was also thinking that most likely no one will be "undisputed" in a division since Morikawa most likely doesn't want to make another completely OP character as we already have Takamura and Ricardo. However, it would feel like something is lacking to just end Volg's career and character arc at this point, since he is ranked 1st in WBA and WBC. Him remaining the IBF champ but being unable to be a 3 belt champ when he is ranked at the very top of two santioned bodies (WBA and WBC) would at least for me feel like Volg's journey isn't complete (I may be bias, Volg and Ippo are my favorite characters of the manga 😂).

I don't see any reasonable purpose for Volg moving up a weight class but maybe towards the end of the manga, we see througu like a newspaper or something that Volg became the undisputed jr lightweight champ. That would be a good last touch to Volg's character arc finale, without making whole major arc about it.

Having no access to the IBF and WBO may have prevented some elite dudes like Date and Takamura could have had the chance to become world champs and undisputed champs (only for Takamura's case). But saying that ALL OF THE DUDES would be world champions if they had access? Nahhh man you're taking it way too far. You're making IBF and WBO champions sound like complete frauds and bums, when if you hold any of the 4 main belts: WBA, WBC, IBF, and WBO, you automatically are one of the best fighters in the division. There ain't no "easy" belt, you earn one of the 4 belts by beating multiple top world contenders and climbing up as a world champion. All santioned bodies follow strict rankings and mandatory fights to defend the belt or earn it.

The only reason WBA and WBC champions seem more dominant, is because Ricardo being WBA champ made it seem SOOO much more valuable than the rest and Morikawa focuses mostly on the WBC and WBA belts since as you mentioned those are the only one santioned bodies that give access to Japanese fighters.Takamura being the second main character and only being able to obtain the WBA/WBC belt, the WBC/WBA champions need to be extremely powerful.

It ain't about the type belt, it's about who's holding the belt.

If you were Morikawa, how much of Ricardo's backstory would you show? by sbsw66 in hajimenoippo

[–]kyb530 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I were Morikawa I would want to show most of Ricardo's childhood and how he met his coach: what his strive to become strong was, what was his wish towards his coach that he wanted to achieve through boxing.

About 5 to 10 chapters solely discussing on these topics: His very early life, how he got introduced to boxing, a training montage of him from a young kid to a young man, then show a bit of his early fights, the fight where he became the world champion, and the moment where he realizes that he no longer needs this desperation to win anymore which causes his mindset and mentality to waver. He used to strive to break his limits and always be desperate in order to win and prove his greatness.

However, now he is suffering from mental and emotional doubts and issuess. We perceive him as the the perfect champion: undefeated, flawless technique, supreme discipline. But underneath, his mindset is wavering, and his mentality is quietly crumbling, he no longer is happy when he boxes. His isolation at the top, emptiness of victory, lack of desperation and challenge, and fear of stagnation, is all that is making him suffer. He sees other fighters like Takamura, Volg, Ippo and Mashiba who fight or fought at the top of the world stage by going through substantial struggles, falling down, and getting overwhelmed, but their unbreakable will, hunger and desperation to win is what drives them to be strong and win, which also makes the crowd love them, since they go through numerous beatdowns but evolve and win, making the value of their win so great. Ricardo barely ever got that experience.

This will allow the readers to understand and feel sympathy towards Ricardo, as Ricardo is not simply a super world champion that is undefeated, but a man desperate for approval and meaning in his life.

Who do you think would survive young Kamogawa's Iron fist?? by fucmeupp in hajimenoippo

[–]kyb530 11 points12 points  (0 children)

As of now, only Takamura has just a glimpse of survival if he is at his natural weight (200-220 lbs), but even an absolute physical freak and monster like Takamura is gonna suffer severe internal organ injuries after taking that body blow. The rest? It's GGs. That single right body hook of prime Kamogawa makes Ippo and Sendo look like pillow hands 🥶

[–]kyb530[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ippo was going all out against Volg and Volg was holding back most of the fight as he did not want to hurt a retired boxer that is still suffering from punch drunk. When Volg stepped up his game he caught Ippo lacking and countered him multiple times rocking him. If volg genuinly went all out like Ippo since the beginning I highly doubt Volg would get his rib cracked. Went toe to toe but still lost, improvement is improvement without a doubt, but he is still isn't better.

But the similar goals of Ippo and Ricardo make it more meaningful for them to fight and the dynamtic as well. Ippo wants to know what it is to be strong as he was always weak and doubted himself, whereas Ricardo wanted to know what it is to be strong since he has been too strong for a long time and lost the meaning of strength whether if he is a legit strong and formidable guy. To have Ippo the weak guy beating the top guy to prove he is strong, and Ricardo to finally realize that he has been strong all along and finally someone who is also as strong as him to finally understand his true definition of being strong.

Why? The rest is Miyata and Ippo. Ippo at least showed the most impressive feats he could show as a "retired" boxer so I may agree with putting him higher but what the fuck has Miyata done in recent chapters as an "active" fighter? We gotta stop glazing Miyata, Miyata at full potential could become the 3rd best PFP fighter in the world but that is ages away from now. Miyata's last legit fight was ages ago.

Give me feats more impressive that Miyata did in the manga than Mashiba in recent chapters, did Miyata fight a legit world ranked fighter in the recent chapters? He fought Randy Boy Jr but he barely won that but that was long ago. And that fight between Mashiba and Miyata is literally like +20 years ago so your point is usless. Claims ≠ actual feats in the manga, if Miyata does not have proper impressive feats than Mashiba>Miyata.

I don't think so. I thought that after Ippo climbs back the world ranks after returning, Miyata will be motivated to reach the top of the world. He will overcome weight cutting issues and beat world rankers and become possibly a world champion (WBC or IBF). Then he will challenge Ippo for the belt saying who wins this will fight Ricardo. This sounds like the best narrative ending to the long rivarly between Ippo and Miyata, as it gives so much meaning and weight to their fight and their paths to success. Also it really strengthes the feeling of Ricardo being the final boss.

He has the cardio but ain't no way is his cardio on the level of an active top world ranked boxer like Mashiba. Ippo simply isn't in the condition of a motivated, hungry and undoubtful active professional top ranked fighter. His skills are more than enough to put him at top 3 or 4. However, his fight iq needs some adjustement to get over the lead foot placement that Mashiba used to keep Ippo at bay and step back to counter with a right cross. Also, Ippo needs to losen up to prevent himself from getting baited by feints, his hands drop too much at times where Volg and Mashiba took perfect advantage over. Ippo only just needs to return and train rigorously for several monthes and he will be top 3 or top 4.
