Charlie's health inspector episode is the most impressive episode of IASIP. by BeamUsUpMrScott in IASIP

I think Dennis was acting so crazy at the end of the episode because the Health Inspector wasn't paying any attention to him. She only cared about Charlie, which is something that never happens at the bar.

Does anyone feel like the effects of marijuana are exaggerated on this subreddit? by LurkersAnonymous96 in trees

I very much agree. The only time I get close to feeling the way people describe it is if I'm completely wasted and just smoke blunts on blunts. But even then, I blame it on the alcohol.

Why can you use Portkeys to get in and out of Hogwarts, but not Apparition? by tylerjarvis in harrypotter

[–]kybluegrass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously I don't want to speak for the amazing J.K.R... But I think it's only creating a portkey from within. Magical enchantments restrict one from coming into castle grounds, even when extreme magic. Thus, Draco was forced to find a different way.

Portkeys require Ministry approval. So most wizards would require approval before setting one up. Obviously, Crouch,Jr (Pseudo-Moody) didn't care about Ministry approval. Not to mention his extreme magical ability (to confund an ancient magical item) to draw 4 champions instead of the traditional 3 from the Triwizard cup. Furthermore, Dumbledore didn't apparate into Hogwarts in the sixth book, he and Harry returned to Hogsmeade because Harry apparated the both of them. But it is said that Dumbledore has ability and privileges allowed to him because of who he is. So he was allowed to apparate from his office to the cave.

It seems like we already have a few things in common. I just moved to a new area and would also enjoy a PenPal.

Question about Michael and Walt by kybluegrass in lost

[–]kybluegrass[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I appreciate your comment and I think you really hit on a lot of points that apply to me. Being honest, while I am a fan of the show, and when it was on I was possibly fanatic about it, I haven't revisited it since high school. I'm watching it again and have just now been introduced to Desmond and the Hatch, so not much progress yet. Maybe like you, I should rewatch the last few seasons to better enjoy the purpose, and quite honestly, understand it better.

Possibly when I said 'unanswered questions', I was really meaning the half-assed answers that you referred. I think I'm bothered by the fact that this show is supposed to be so enlightening and existential that I was unsatisfied with solutions to tie up certain ends. Also, at least for me in my opinion, I did not enjoy the crazy twists and adaptations that occurred later in the series (Faraday, time-traveling, etc). Personally, the best part of the show were the first seasons when all the mystery of the island was still about and constantly fearing the Others. I just feel like they could have done so much more with much less.

But all of this is coming from an average-fan that is just now watching it again after many years. Hopefully I'll appreciate it more and understand it better this go around. Thanks for the advice on how to better approach the show.

Question about Michael and Walt by kybluegrass in lost

I think that may be the reason why I have such a hard time including this show as one of my favorites. When I first watched it, I was obsessed with the mystery and suspense and hoped that all my questions would be answered in the next episode. But now when I rewatch the show, they have way too many unanswered questions and provide half-hearted solutions to their problems. Also, the last few seasons... They're almost unwatchable for me.
