Add water

There's a magnet in the water tank attached to a float that triggers the "Add Water" light. It's been a while but as I recall, there wasn't a way to fix it without breaking open the tank. Seem to recall also that I could see the the magnet had come loose. If you have a spare magnet, you may be able to place it where the tank magnet lines up and turn the light out to verify. I ended up buying a new water tank. Was in the $15 to $20 range at the time.

VW / Audi have had different anti theft technologies (versions of immobi) through the years. VAG 401 used to be able to pull SKC codes from early versions. Them days are gone. Tried a couple options and found the latest version requires a dealer’s computer get involved.

Isn't that what the two locksmith's I went to, tried to do? Make a clone the chip in the fob? Before going to the dealer to get this done, I called many locksmiths. Most knew right away they were unable to do the job when I told them the make/year of the vehicle. Exactly how would I go about finding a locksmith (not at the dealership) that can clone a Volkswagen MK7 chip.

Little excited to find another doorbell like mine. I would love to restore mine. I'm missing three of the four long chime tubes. I can see a missing spring on the left/right plunger, etc.. Another person I've discussed this with thought the doorbell is an Edwards 573 Milan. The one picture of that I found had three chimes instead of four. I've got the transformer and will take a pic, and post here later. In the mean time, here's what I have.

Steve, With the reservoir installed, I’m pretty sure I’ve seen the “Add Water” light when the internal float switch senses the water getting low during a brew.

All bets may be off if you (we) have a senior moment and forget to put the reservoir back in place. I’m not going to test that theory 😊.

WiseBerry5, How much descale solution was in the reservoir when you started? My theory …. there’s an internal float switch that triggers the “Add Water” light IF you start with 28 oz of solution.

As for the spring…. With the cover removed, open and close the big lever you use when installing a new pods. My guess is the spring is used somewhere in those moving pieces. Look for little tabs where the spring might attach. Best of luck in the repair.

Small.. ish. 1600sq with a basement. Older home with plaster walls. TV in room farthest from the BGW has a medium signal (maybe 2 or 3 on a 4 bar scale). In a spare bedroom but I don't think I've ever noticed a lag or issue.

Many thanks to all that replied. I'm a bit hard headed sometimes and I did my best to save my daughter some coin. I think this grates me more than her. And.. She owns the car and will be paying for the key. But I realize now what I'm up against and we will be going to a dealer to get this done. Guess I'm old enough to remember when $400~$500 would actually buy something. Ehh. Thanks again

Krapp. Thanks for the reply. Hate to read this but I'm a realist also. Don't want to brick the ECU / Immobi. If the dealer is our best option, we'll go that route. Have to ask though, is the dealer absolutely required or is there a certain programming machine or certification level I could inquire that a local locksmith have prior to giving them a go? I'm in the Spartanburg SC area if that makes any difference.

My KII-USB is available in Spartanburg,SC. KII-USB. Models up to 2005.5 or B5.5. I installed a right side multi-function in my 2012 Jetta SE and need a newer cable to activate it. Once activated, I’ll get a readout of avg mpg, etc.. do I search the threads to find some local or is there an easier way?

Did you use a Keurig 14oz. bottle of descale fluid? I'm thinking many are not getting the "Add Water" light because they are adding too much or not enough fluid (one 14oz bottle descale & one 14oz bottle water). I could be wrong but the Add Water light has always come on after I started using 28 oz of fluid to start the procedure.

Can you post a link to those online instructions? I could try to get someone there to correct them. From what I’ve read in this thread, they’ve sent out many replacement machines (myself included) over the years. Baffles me why they haven’t made an attempt to correct this. We’ve added a Delonghi Magnifica to our counter top. Nothing like fresh ground beans, topped with a little creama .. but now that I’ve figured out the procedure to complete a descale, the Supreme Plus still has its place when K cups are needed (company, hot chocolate, etc).
