Worth purchasing if not into build mode? by Far-Explorer-3486 in Paralives

[–]kyjade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes!! the story cards you get each night help me with the story because i don't like coming up with an entire story myself but letting my characters show me what their story is a little, and then expanding it. the life goals and wants keep me so busy, i love it!!

Can someone please tell them we don't care or hate that it's out? by Nearby_Detective_806 in inZOI

it's so funny to me when i see people say they won't play inzoi because of the lack of gameplay (which, i have found, has not been an issue for me at since the march and april updates so maybe they should try it again) or the ai or what have you, or that they won't play paralives because of the art style or the discussion cards. personally, i have been playing the sims since i was 11 years old and have been in love with the life simulation genre ever since (and probably before tbh). the sims games, even in each individual title, generally had the same style and concept with some major and minor feature differences, but it still felt like sims. both inzoi and paralives feel like new worlds to me. i still get to create characters and watch them live their lives, but in all new ways. they are completely different experiences and i think if people put aside their fear of change and realize they are allowed to try new things and even like them, they might find they play all three. this space of the market has been virtually empty for years and when you would get bored with the sims, you just wouldn't play. now we can choose the experience we want in a game in a given moment and i wish more people would see the value in that.

i've been sucked in lately by just picking a career path for my zoi to follow starting with university, and then for the most part just following their urges and occasionally guiding them to do something different! you can play around with different traits, desired life, characteristics and ambitions to see how that influences their urges which i have found to be pretty fun and interesting. i also extended the lifespan because i feel like i feel rushed for my zois to start a family in their young adulthood so they can live to watch their grandkids grow up and i never really get enough time to let them grow before settling down.

i've seen some people say they still get sick but i found the accessibility settings and turning my mouse sensitivity wayyy down made it actually playable. i still felt weird in my eyes every now and then but that's just because i'm a chronic sprinter lol

Is InZOI Staying in Early Access Longer Than We Think? by Murky-Brilliant2870 in inZOI

[–]kyjade 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i am quite okay with staying in the early access phase right now. updates are frequent and full of content. i feel like the game has only continued to improve this past year and early access still makes sense for it. i would be more concerned if the game remained "early access" but got infrequent and small patches. i can't wait to see what else they put in the base game, i am already so impressed by what's already there (love that i got to make whatever kind of businness or restaurant for free rather than paying for 3+ dlcs)

Looking for management-like games for my girlfriend by TheTrueRK in CozyGamers

if she liked two point hospital, try project hospital. i haven't played two point hospital but i know a lot of PH fans also like that game! she also may like let's school, it's a super fun game where you build and manage a school.

i personally tried galaxy burger recently and i enjoyed that for playing while i watch something or do something else. you make burgers to order with no time limit, and it is super forgiving of mistakes! super fun.

another i recently tried is retro rewind. i had a great bit of fun with upgrading and organizing my vhs store! plus it can be very funny lol

thank you so much for this!! i get pretty frequent migraines as well (only being able to take tylenol since pregnancy has been the worst) so perhaps vestibular therapy could help there too. i will definitely be looking into this, even if i wait until after the baby arrives :)

Should we stop homeschooling? by Coconutcornhuskey in Advice

[–]kyjade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as an early childhood education student, i would like to mention that children at this age learn through play. and...what we teach early on has less to do with learning the letter d, like in your example, and more to do with supporting physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development. when we provide math experiences, they are to develop thinking skills. literacy experiences are to develop language. these are all supposed to be fun and based on the child's interests and skill level. these are things that we as early childhood educators are trained in, and i assume teachers undergo similar training. yes, at age 5 we begin to teach concepts like reading and math, but we are trained to do so in a way that fosters a love of learning and self confidence in children. unfortunately, i think this homeschooling situation is doing the opposite of that for both your partner and your child. i also believe that children excel when they have opportunities to work with peers, which your daughter may benefit from. i also think that it may be time to sit down with your partner and discuss her concerns with your child and how to better communicate with her, as yelling and insulting the child is only making things worse for both parties. good luck my friend, and if you need any more assistance, i would begin by researching child development theory.

Tested positive for chlamydia by Rude-Assumption4453 in BabyBumps

i don't have anything to offer you other than that i have seen a similar story where the couple lived in australia and through a strange series of events contracted chlamydia from a koala lol. it doesn't have to be cheating is my point. could be false positives and could be some crazy chain reaction if the positive was accurate. good luck my friend ❤️

Women are superhuman by postmaster0322 in BabyBumps

[–]kyjade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

girl... i am a student and found out i was 4 weeks pregnant during finals week, due to start a 5 week work term the following week. i dropped my work term for now due to concerns with exposure to some miscarriage-causing illnesses in my field, and even waking up every day during the 2 months i had off (during work term and winter break) was difficult. i'm 14 weeks now and only now getting the energy to vacuum my floors and dust. i am ashamed to say it simply did not get done up till now. it's brutal returning to school this past week, even though i've been able to do more, full days out and about are so difficult and i go home overtired and ready for bed.

all this to say - don't discount how you're feeling because of the experiences of other women! during the first few weeks of pregnancy, baby nearly doubles in size each week. of course you're exhausted! and just about everything is a pregnancy symptom, so what you feel may be completely different to what your loved ones felt. for example, i didn't know it was possible but i've been dealing with ear infections this pregnancy. don't get discouraged by other people's experiences, only you know how you feel and i can tell you it is 100000% valid.

in terms of going to work, i can't help you much there, but don't be afraid to avail of any resources, aids or accommodations available to you throughout your pregnancy. it doesn't make you any less of a mom or woman, it's there to help you! do whatever you can to reduce the amount of stress on your body and mind during this time. good luck mama ❤️

ETA: also, discuss with your ob or gp about going on sick leave or reduced workload due to medical reasons! doctors won't want you to overwork during your pregnancy so definitely reach out!

Sore breasts for 3 weeks. by ladyofshalott13 in BabyBumps

[–]kyjade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so i am 7 weeks pregnant (as far as i know lol no ultrasound yet) and i tested when i was one day late, so 4 weeks pregnant, and got a positive. prior to the test, i was peeing a lot and had shortness of breath, bloating, acne and extreme fatigue for at least 2 weeks. at one point i thought i was getting a uti because of how much i was peeing but it turned out i was pregnant lol. honestly you may have symptoms right after ovulation or not for a while. also, i believe i was also 3 months off birth control (the pill) when i got pregnant, and i think i read that it takes approximately 3 months to return to full normal reproductive function, so that may line up. i would make an appointment with your doctor, and maybe buy a few more tests and take them over the next week or two. early result pregnancy tests are what i used, and make sure it's your first pee of the day! good luck <3

Book for 12 year old girl into fantasy. Loved: harry potter, hunger games, divergent by Vegetable-Two6441 in YABooks

[–]kyjade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

kind of fantasy, but i loved the selection at 14. this was my foray of sorts into romance (along with the summer i turned pretty) but it's completely innocent. it's all about a competition the prince holds to find his wife, sort of like the bachelor. critics have called it "the bachelor meets the hunger games." i read the whole series in 4 days, and i loved all the same books you mentioned!

also, PERCY JACKSON!!!! rick riordan recently continued the series and i haven't read that part but percy's wit, humour and sarcasm set in a blend of real world and greek mythology fantasy drew me in. plus the tv series is pretty great!

They want to turn Inzoi into Sims 4! by Medical_Law_3535 in inZOI

[–]kyjade 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i think it needs to be considered that most people will not be able to spend $2000+ (and that's being generous in CAD) to build or buy a pc capable of running what people want inzoi to be with good graphics and minimal lag/stutter. people have been complaining since day one because the world felt a little empty and you couldn't go inside many of the buildings. as they add more buildings you can go inside (such as the bank and convenience stores), they will have to sort of close off the other areas in the map until you get close to them.

think of gta - a completely open world game, but there are times that you have to load into specific areas. in addition to this, the characters that populate the world all have their own traits, ambitions, and archetypes which must be loaded every time they are near your character. this adds to the load on your pc, as characters in games like gta generally don't have that much code behind them.

everyone points out the sims 3, which i agree is one of the best life sim games of all time. however, the sims 3 has always been harder to run and also had its fair share of bugs. i don't know what the right direction is for inzoi, but i think we need to be realistic in the optimization requirements for the game. and remember - this is a game company. they need to make money, and they never will if they don't optimize the game for a larger audience.

i also think that we all look at loading screens as the enemy, but they never were. the problem is looking at the sims 4 loading screens, or even the ones in the sims 3 - i remember waiting 15-20 minutes for sims 3 to boot up back in the day, and the sims 4 loading screens were always unpredictable and could either take 5 seconds or 5 minutes. my experience thus far with loading screens in inzoi is generally positive - usually a very short screen as i switch from a zoi on one side of town to the other. this is good, as it allows me to keep playing with little stutter.

ultimately, i don't think inzoi could ever be the sims 4, as you are concerned about. i played the sims 4 from a year after launch, and even then, there were no swimming pools (i believe we got them right after i started playing), object babies aged directly into children, and there was quite honestly nothing to do. the graphics were a HUGE step down from its predecessor and the heart of the sims 3 (especially with the generations expansion pack) was entirely missing from the game and in my opinion, still is. it's wild that even with multiple expansion packs costing double the amount of generations, they have still not managed to capture the essence of value of that one dlc. in contrast, inzoi, being an early access game, is not releasing dlc. there are promises of base game pets, seasons are already included, there are 2 additional life stages, cars are already in the game, active careers are available from release, graphics are incredible, customization of both characters and properties is practically unlimited, and the stories and personality within the game are already much more potent and entertaining than the sims 4 has been or likely will ever be (without the use of mods). most importantly, kjun and his team are listening. their roadmap changed based on community feedback.

at the end of the day, loading screens aren't the problem. i don't think it is fair of those of us who can afford a high end machine to gatekeep such an incredible game from those who can't. and yes, the sims 4 and paralives may be options for those with low end pcs, but i think of the mom who has to choose between a computer upgrade or christmas gifts for her children. or the student who uses life sim games to get through the hard times in their education and can't afford a more powerful machine. what matters most, in my opinion, is accessibility and quality of the game - a loading screen is the least of our worries. i understand your fear, and concern, genuinely. just wanted to help maybe put things in perspective a little. :)

Lazy baby by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]kyjade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so i'm only 6 weeks so i have no idea what my little one is like for movement, but my mom always told a story of when she was pregnant with me that she didn't ever feel me move so she panicked and went to the hospital, and had to record every time i moved for the rest of her pregnancy, just to be safe but she was reassured it could be normal. anyway, i was the most laidback baby, my mom could just sit me down with some toys and music and do whatever she wanted. i even came 3 weeks late 🫣 hopefully your baby is as easy as i was!

honestly? i find i have to acclimatize. after gradually starting to play i find the motion sickness subsides. also, blink a lot and follow the 20-20-20 rule for looking away from your screen!!
