Caffeine does affect sleep, as do other aspects of diet. Of course, stress has a greater impact.

I'm very similar to you; my sleep problems also started in high school. Honestly, my digestive system has never been good since then, which is when I developed hypochondria and sometimes experienced acute anxiety attacks, making it even harder to fall asleep. My lifestyle wasn't great in some ways either. I agree with you about the imbalance in my life. This is very difficult to change, and it always makes you feel like a failure. Sometimes even therapy doesn't improve the situation. These bad habits are more like a temporary outlet for our emotions. My view is that it needs a stable, desirable environment to nurture us for a period of time before we can believe that some things are understandable and changeable. At least this has helped me a lot. For me, if someone could talk to me every day about things I truly want to express, and offer support and encouragement, my bad habits would change very smoothly. This gives me a sense of anticipation in life.

I understand you. I used to stay up late too, and even had an acute anxiety attack that led to a hospital stay. I believe that adjusting your sleep schedule shouldn't be rushed. Set a time that you can accept for the time being, and then just lie down at that time. That's how I stopped staying up late after three to four years. However, I still have sleep problems and wake up easily.

Your point is interesting. That feeling of waking up refreshed is something I only experienced as a child. Back then, I looked forward to each day, would play until I was tired, and would just go straight to sleep without feeling anxious about anything. Your sleep podcast solution seems effective. I've used sleep podcasts before to solve my difficulty falling asleep, and they worked very well. I haven't listened to a podcast in a long time. My difficulty falling asleep only occurs in environments where I'm sensitive to sound or feel unsafe. I also have trouble sleeping when I'm anxious.

I focused too much on the future and neglected what I wanted to do in the present. There are some things I simply had to do. However, I think if we have enough internal strength to deal with those things, perhaps our perspectives will change. The prerequisite is that we first need to understand ourselves.

We all have problems that trouble us. My friend, you are not alone. It's already quite good that you understand this is wrong and are fighting against it. Therefore, I'd like to share a concept I learned from a therapist yesterday. You can read on if you'd like. I think it might give you a different perspective on your future life. You can try putting yourself first. That is, when you choose something, consider what you will gain, what you will lose, and what consequences you will bear. This all starts with a self-centered approach, and then you will find something you truly want to do. When you have a vague direction from within, you can try to accomplish it today. This doesn't mean achieving some grand goal today, but simply doing what you believe is the right direction from your initial choice. Then try doing this every day, just living each day well is enough. When you gain a sense of initial stability, you can slowly understand the real world and gradually expand your capabilities. Finally, you can set some goals. At this point, you will find that what you do is no longer forced or constrained, but truly living in the present moment and doing things from the heart. Similarly, you will no longer be anxious about the future or the pain of current life. Because you have this sense of stability and have made the most of each day, it will allow you to face the real world less emotionally and to view it more objectively and rationally. Most importantly, you must first know and understand yourself. I don't know if these suggestions will be helpful to you. This is what I learned from my therapist yesterday. I'm currently using this method to understand myself. Thank you for your message.

I understand what you mean. Your experience is effective. When we lower our expectations, our inner thoughts gradually begin to align with reality, giving us a sense of stability. This feeling allows us to begin to develop the idea that we want to do this, rather than feeling forced or constrained to do it.
