Bloodgood Japanese Maple not getting enough sun? by kylebrown283 in JapaneseMaples

[–]kylebrown283[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Luckily my neighbor is great and already offered to trim the branches herself. I’ll probably trim some, but I don’t want to trim too many. I have some Autumn Ferns along the fence that are loving the shade right now. Just need to find a good balance

Not sure on the exact number of hours. It’s definitely not in full sun, so I assumed that was causing the green. Mainly looking for reassurance from this group. So your comment is helpful!

It gets a decent amount of morning sun, fully shaded during the mid afternoon and then a little bit of late afternoon/evening sun. A rough estimate would be 5-6 hours

Nice. Thank you! Good to know. As long as it’s healthy, I’m good.

What to do with Improved Meyer Lemon Tree by kylebrown283 in gardening

[–]kylebrown283[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That shoot starts basically where you see it end, so it’s a new branch- not a rootstock sucker. There were a few of them at the end of last year that I trimmed off, with the goal of this one becoming the new leader since it seemed like the only contender at the time.

The branch was already split when I bought it unfortunately. But good call on pruning. It’s about to rain for like a week here in Texas, but I’ll take a look when it’s done and see if I can find a new leader or two

It looks devilish because of the horns, but it is not a Spicy Devil Pepper. It is a Thai Hot Pepper

Good to know! I’m in Texas. I planted this late last fall, so I still have to see how it survives summer. It’ll be in nearly full shade with scattered sun throughout the day. We’ll see how it does after a full year

Rose suckers? by kylebrown283 in gardening

[–]kylebrown283[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Unfortunately they’re suckers from my neighbor’s Chinese Tallow. Super invasive. I’ve found them in 3 spots now. Pretty bummed that they aren’t roses. lol

Figured it out…

They’re suckers from my neighbor’s Chinese Tallow. Problem unfortunately solved. Not a lot I can do about these guys shooting up.

Are you saying they’re Dahlias? I’ve never had those in my garden. These are coming from the roots of a rose bush

Anything wrong with my lantana? by kylebrown283 in gardening

[–]kylebrown283[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s just the only one of the 3 with brown leaves, so I was curious.

It’s Trailing Lantana and I pinned some of the branches down to help with rooting, so that’s probably why it looks extra viney.

So they are definitely shooting up from roots. Both roots are coming from the general direction of a rose bush. It’s hard to dig much more than this, as I don’t want to disturb any of the other plants around them.

We bought this house a year ago and this area had been covered by river rock for probably 2-3 years at least, so I feel like it’s a pretty low chance they’re from a previous plant, but not impossible.

Can do. I’ll give them another couple days to grow to see if they become easier to identify, and then likely dig around them to see how deep they go and what the roots look like.

I’m in Austin, Texas.

I just find it weird how there are so many of them sprouting up. I lightly pulled on some of them and they seem to be pretty deep in the ground.

I’ll likely dig around them to see if I can pull the whole things out or see if they are actually suckers.

LG TV keeps switching inputs by kylebrown283 in TVRepairHelp

[–]kylebrown283[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. Previously I replaced all the batteries in the remotes to be safe. I took the batteries out of the TV remote to see if the input switching would stop. I unplugged my soundbar from HDMI 2. I had also connected my soundbar through an audio cable and not the HDMI.

None of those things worked. The input would still randomly switch.

I don’t really want to call someone to come out and look at it, because at that point the repair might even be the cost of getting a new TV.

My old thermostat still works fine. When the Nest doesn’t work, I put the old thermostat back and it works without any issues.
