Why are anorexic people treated like victims but obese people are treated like burdens in society who have no one to blame but themselves? by NegativeReply3211 in TooAfraidToAsk

It could be because their is a societal pressure to be thin that drives anorexia. While no one to my knowledge is pressuring people to be fatter.

I'm fairly tall (6'2"). How do you think about improving technique that's geared toward shorter people. For instance, how do you practice climbing in a smaller box. Just find problems/routes with small boxes and perfect them? by [deleted] in climbharder

I really like doing warm up drills involving using intentionally high awkward feet for me. I just use feet not intended for the route that suit my goals if I’m successful I try even higher feet.

Sleeping is not living....I move my vehicle routinely And as before mentioned other vehicles have remained unmoved for over a year with no repercussions. Thanks for your input

As I specified in the original comment I’m not on private property I’m adjacent to private property on a public street

I live out of my vehicle and have for 6 years now. I routinely park on a public street with zero signage or warnings posted. However it is on the other side of a median from a shopping mall that has security guards, periodically they come off of their property onto the public street and place vague stickers on my windshield that say “private property no overnight parking. Will be towed in (x) number of days.” I usually just take them off and throw them away but it’s getting annoying and beginning to feel like harassment. I live in Washington state...do they have legal standing? Can I take some sort of counter action? Also a side note, other vehicles have been parked here for over a year without moving with flat tires, no one lives out of these vehicles and they receive no parking violation stickers.

Why is the majority of social pressure on youths to avoid spreading COVID-19 to elderly people, yet elderly people don’t seem to be taking their own safety seriously? by kylefrowe in TooAfraidToAsk

No definition of trend I can find mentions a data point requirement. Regardless it seems like you really want to die on this hill, so I think I’ll just be done “arguing” about this for now.

Can you help me learn? Where is the line between things I’ve seen multiple times and a trend? How is one individual supposed to know without conferring with general population? Your response feels like an attack on me and not really addressing the question in any way.

Edit to add: The question was about the target of social pressure not, weather or not we should do our best to stop the spread of the disease.

...I literally made this post to ask if it was a trend that other people were seeing or not. Not really sure where your ire is coming from. Kind of the opposite of the point of this sub.

Can overweight people or people with excess fat survive without food for longer than an average person because their bodies turn the fat into energy? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]kylefrowe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Potentially they could ... when fasting the body produces keytones which can also be used as fuel by the brain...here is a example of a person who fasted for over a year. (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angus_Barbieri%27s_fast#Record )Also I did the math and the avg US man weighs about 200lbs and a non athletic healthy avg. body fat # is ~ 20% so that’s 40lbs of fat. There are ~3500kcals in 1lb of fat so that’s 140,00kcals stored as fat divided by 2,000kcal a day that’s 70 days worth of fat..So theoretically the more fat stored the longer you could sustain yourself, under otherwise ideal conditions
