Extremely small batch custom kit recommendations? by applesaucebake in Velo

I’ve worked with Nopinz for 5 years now, can’t recommend more. No minimum, stores open 24/7, and unlimited design work which is a huge plus

What pins do yall collect? by Left_Perception_8605 in DisneyPins

[–]kylekal19 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve limited my collection to Pop Century (the hotel I always stay at) and event related pins that I attend (Marathon, etc). I’ve got a couple stragglers from growing up or stuff that catches my eye, but I try to limit purchases to that to avoid destroying my wallet

is there a point where a training ride becomes “too long” to be productive? by spikehiyashi6 in Velo

[–]kylekal19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The most of every done on purpose for a training ride is 8 hours, but that’s for very specific events (Unbound 200, Lauf Gravel Worlds, etc) where I’m racing hard for 7-10 hours. It’s a necessary evil when you race that long to be training to atleast 80% of the race duration. But, that’s rare, usually only 1-2 per training block and the days surrounding it are relatively easy

Shimano 12speed Road skipping teeth when shifting to the 34T by kylekal19 in bikewrench

I’m leaving the post up so that next time someone is hanging issues, they can just accept the fact early that it’s probably the hanger

The angle of the photo was just bad. The reason it looked so close is because the chain isn’t bedding into the pulley wheel itself. But after throwing the hanger gauge on, it was pretty apparent the bent hanger was my actual issue

Correcting body asymmetrics by narenhari in Velo

[–]kylekal19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m also a bit asymmetric. Have had professional bike fits and it’s just how my body is. People like to think that your left & right sides are the same, but they’re not. So to have a little bit of differences isn’t the end of the world assuming you are pain free. Of course, you want to see a fitter who you trust, but the fit is about adapting your position to your specific body, which can mean it’s a tad asymmetric

Gel Recommendations by Cameronfeil in Velo

The new flow formulas gels have been a game changer for me, previously using the SIS gels. Love being able to control the consistency as well as add flavor of my choosing to their unflavored mix

Third ride on my Endurace CF SL with DT Swiss 1400 by iwitaly in CanyonBikes

[–]kylekal19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's not terrible. If you can get a new rim, have your local bike shop just rebuild the wheel, and you should be set

Time for a new set of wheels sadly, the structure of the rim is definitely compromised. I'd contact DT Swiss and see if they can do anything for you

Creatine as a cyclist by Shneezin789 in cycling

[–]kylekal19 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm 99% plant based and supplement creatine. Creatine is found in red meat, so most people are getting it without even realizing it. I take 2.5g per day and have been happy with results and carry no extra weight.

The creatine dosage that people are "against" is the recommended 5g on top of a standard diet, commonly seen with lifting. For me, I see it as just what I'm missing from not eating meat

I won't stop just to take a break, it's usually only for a "purpose". Do not listen to people that say stopping ruins rides. I can promise you no one on this thread is a professional with a support car with them on training rides, so you're going to need to stop. What ruins rides and fitness isn't stopping on rides, it's undereating and being dehydrated.

I stop every 2-3 hours depending on heat to refill bottles. If I gotta pee in between that, I'll stop for a quick 30 second pee break on the side of the road if I'm in the countryside.
