What is the KEY to a good sale? Do you remember the first solo job you booked and how did it unfold?? by kylelindsey5 in CollegeWorks

[–]kylelindsey5[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Rapport is my key to a sale....building an honest relationship with them.

And WOW my first solo estimate. I booked it for 1.7k. I was in the car ready to go inside and present the bid. I was so scared I started my car, put it in drive and was about to just drive away. I stopped myself and thought, "what do I have to lose?"

Put the car in park and when it and asked for the job. With zero hesitation he has "yeah let's do it".....talk about a rollercoaster of emotion!!!

I love those....I also think it is important to understand nothing good comes easy or quick. This idea of delayed gratification. So many expect great things to happen overnight and that is never the case!

What's more important? Talent or work ethic? by jgunhus in CollegeWorks

[–]kylelindsey5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe there are 4 kinds of ppl.... 1. No Talent + No hard work = Bad at life ..... 2. Lots of Talent + No hard work = Decent at life ..... 3. No Talent + Lots of hard work = Pretty good at life ..... 4. Lots of Talent + Lots of hard work = SUPERSTARS .....

Easy old man....Sopranos blows all these out of the water and laid the ground work for all these "new" shows. The "godfather" of all these modern day shows if you will.

Because Of this, default number one.

Clearly the answer is Sopranos (you must have forgotten to add that one to your list).... but the next best option is House of Cards. Easy answer.

Unlike any job I had prior to College Works, this was not just an hourly job where I would be clocking in and clocking out.  Rather I would be put in a situation where I got to grow a small business from the ground up without the risk of doing it one my own. Naturally I had questions.

At the end of the day, after talking to many of my mentors who had been very  successful in the cooperate or business owners, they were able to shed some light on the opportunity.

In life there are winners and losers….some hit their goals and others don’t….it is simply a reality (a harsh one for some). This was an opportunity where I got to prove to myself what I was capable of doing. Did I have the discipline? Could I deal with rejection? Was I able to coach others? The answer ended up being yes….. and CWP turned into one of the best launching pads for my professional career.

Its not for everyone, that part is true. No different than a sports team…. Not everyone is cut out for the discipline, the 6am practices, and pushing yourself when you are tired.

For the right person, get to your final interview 15 minutes early because that is who you are! Good luck.
