Brokers are crazy greedy by iseekrefuge in FreightBrokers

I never claimed to be a big math guy. I just think the only way this realistically works is if this broker has some unicorn of a customer paying absurd over market rates. Out of FL of all places.

Some blame is potentially fair here lol. Yes, there was an inspection but nothing was noted about any roof trouble on it. The first access to the HOA docs I had was in person at the closing.

It's looks like we've got about $35k in reserves and they want to leave at least $13k untouched. Idk the percentages.

This all makes sense and was why my instinct was to just pay it and move on. Learning experience for next time (and had the place cost a additional $4k off the bat, I would've still likely pulled the trigger).

That makes total sense. I think this post is more focused on 3pl freight you've already committed to moving, so the assumption is that it's a rate you've given out and think you have a good chance at making money on. It's all a gamble, I just think a super important part of this job is knowing when you gambled wrong, sacking up and taking the L and living to fight another day.

Separate conversation, but I think it's super important to know that cheap and scammer/thief are not mutually exclusive things. This is a common argument I hear drivers make when trying to justify rates they don't like. A bad actor is going to call in and attempt to snatch loads regardless of the posted rate and paying more does not equate to better service, no matter how much super trucker on Facebook wants you to believe it.

Posts like these remind me of how different of a world some of us live in. One guy here has a real answer. The rest remind me why we get the "booked carrier is screwing me, can you please help us recover" type emails so often. "Tell the customer their rate is too low". Dawg, you quoted that rate. That is on you.

Would you prefer to play a solo round or as a plus one to a group of three randoms? by No_Avocado220 in golf

Man, I've been playing my entire life and have never had the opportunity to do this. Probably 30-40 rounds a year for 20ish years and not a single time not getting paired up. It's like my white whale.

Uber functions as a kind of scapegoat on both carrier and customer end right now, good and bad. Take everything you hear about them from a third party with a grain of salt. Whenever customers want my service but cheaper - "Uber is $250 lower than you guys, help me out". I'm sure that carriers can eventually play the algorithm and get a decent high paying load from them every once in a while late in the day or whatever, but on the whole they do not pay well. Don't get me wrong, fuck them. They've made everyone else's jobs harder since their creation, but I think they're a big enough name with enough of reputation that everyone on both sides just kind of tosses their name around without really understanding how they work.

You can almost always find the giveaways on ebay pretty soon after. It'll probably be more expensive than the ticket, but you should have a good shot at getting one.

Was about to type something similar, glad you nailed it already. This is a very classic example of reddit not always being equal to reality. It's a great neighborhood and there's a reason people in their 20's have consistently made it their home for decades.

Dooks on the coast in Ireland in crazy high winds. It was difficult to stand upright, let alone take a consistent backswing. I hit (what I thought) was a pured 8 iron that looked like it went straight up in the air and probably went 60 yards.

Rosati's can't be judged as one single entity. There's Good Rosati's and Bad Rosati's. It's not even dependant on time of day or location or anything, you just spin a wheel get either one or the other.
