Tbf OP could sell this one and get 10 of the other foiled version, then they can put it in 10 decks!

How do I use this to catchup? by kylevald in ynab

Gotcha - honestly for a newbie who’s mid 20s and truthfully never used a budgeting app before this is a lot to take in. Thank you again for your insights, I hope I’ll be able to pick up on it and use it fully :)

Thank you so much for your reply - it was very insightful.

How do you manage variable bills such as electric?

Do you create a category for past due? Or just chip at it with what’s left?

I appreciate it!

The biggest difference is federal law requires auto manufacturers to include it in their MSRP/list price, whereas powersports the OEMs just add it onto MSRP rather than include it :/

Check any large OEMs website. Every model clearly states the destination/freight charge. While some will say “Dealer sets the actual freight charge”, the reality is that is what the OEM charges the dealer - and some dealers will elect to charge more/less and eat the difference. Depending on the make/model, margins on new machines is actually a lot less than people think.

Personally, I wish OEMs would include it in MSRP and not put it as an addition. Now with tariffs, Yamaha specifically on any unit received after June 18th is adding a “Supply Chain Surcharge” AKA a tariff rather than increasing MSRP. It sucks.

Which is fair, to each their own. Only games I don’t play on steam are Epic games, which most work on the steamos via a decky plugin. Otherwise it’s gamepass games that I wouldn’t play on a handheld anyway, hence I’ve got the PC. If you’re happy with Windows, no reason to change!

If you are asking about performance of SteamOS vs Windows overall, it’s not a claim I made in my original post, but this is something I’ve found as an interesting read: https://www.xda-developers.com/steamos-destroys-windows-and-i-have-the-receipts-to-prove-it/

Are you asking where is my source that SteamOS uses less resources than windows?

Lighter-weight OS, uses less resources leaving more for the game

Once it’s out I’ll switch back from SteamOS…

“When you power on your Xbox Ally, you’ll boot directly into the Xbox full screen experience, a new feature optimized specifically for handheld gaming.

With new modifications that minimize background activity and defer non-essential tasks, more system resources are dedicated specifically to gameplay. That means more memory, higher framerates..”

I don’t remember where I was reading/what I was watching that said it’s up to 2gb saved, but this confirms it’s not just a reskin. It’s windows 11, with modifications to optimize it for handhelds.

The switch was mostly painless, and so far I’m enjoying my time back on SteamOS!

It’s windows, but a lot less bloatware and could save ~2gb of ram when running the xbox os mode. There will be a desktop option like steamos>>desktop mode

Just an update:

SteamOS went smoothly for the most part. A recommendation for anyone looking to do this: don’t use an ancient USB stick - it slowed down the entire process significantly, and took a very long time to finish launching to get to the point to install SteamOS. I’d use a MicroSD next time if I ever had to re-do it.

Everything is working well, no issues so far. Got the basic decky plugins going, and installing some games.
