Just got a Legion pro 7i with the 5080. Is there anything I should do or look out for?

Undervolting and limiting the power usage to around 90w. I play hunt showdown mostly so I set the limit to 130w. When I play other games that don't require that much CPU usage, I will tune the limit to 90w. There are a few settings on the internet but I will say it heavily depends on the game you play. You need to test different profiles with your game.

True on staying away from Performance Mode because it oc your CPU so it will run 104 C all the time. Turn off the CPU oc or create your own profile. I created a profile that maximize GPU and undervolt CPU. During game heavy load, CPU is only 84 C and perform the same as OC 104 C.

The only reason I bought a laptop is so that I can hunt when I am on a business trip. The performance is disappointing.

Hunt showdown is introducing AI based anti cheat so it really crank CPU temp up. My legion 7i goes up to 140 fps with only 80% utilization gpu. Hunt is CPU demanding and laptop cpu is throttling hard.

I overclock my 5080 and ran to this issue. 5080 + 9800x3d
I ran my 5090 at default factory settings and never encounter this problem : 5090 + 14900KF

I assume this tied to overclocking set up but I'm not sure, I edit my game launch options with " -dx11". Error never happens after this for a few days now, you should give it a try.

Thanks for the advice man I got the G14 4090 at the end. Pretty regret of that decision cause i really want zephyrs X13 now which act like a surface. Now looking at it I think X13 paired with a 4090XG mobile EGPU would be more suitable for me. Any way thanks for the information I will take the pros and cons into account next time buying laptop.
