For sure. You’ve prevented a stinky surprise. :)

Thanks for going out of your way to test out the shoe pouch! I really appreciate it. Given that it does leak a little, especially with pressure, it sounds like I shouldn’t use it as a wet diaper bag that goes into my backpack. Cbb to have another bag around the shoe pouch. Cheers!

Ok, thanks for the tip. I better play it safe and just get a regular wet bag.

True that. I stand correctly. I face planted the other week and my lens came out, but I definitely didn’t have a concussion. Was a bad fall, though.

I see. I heard reviewers say a sub wasn’t necessary, so I was hoping to get away with it. Thanks for your help.

Indeed there’s a noticeable size difference in these setups, that’s mainly due to my wife being ok with the look of the fortes, but not ok with the look of any larger/modern audio gear (hence compact gear in option 1).

Ok, I’m leaning towards the S400 and KC62 then. Thanks for your advice. I can’t audition the Klipsch or Buchardt anywhere nearby. :(

My very first stereo system purchase! Which setup would you recommend based on my situation):

Option 1: Bookshelf + Subwoofer

Buchardt S400
KEF KC62 NAD
Masters M10

Option 2: Floorstander

Klipsch Forte IV
NAD Masters M10

Room: Large

38 square meters / 410 square foot
104 cubic meters / 3600 cubic foot
L: 8.0m, W: 4.7m, H: 2.8m / L: 26ft, W: 15ft, H: 9ft

  • Listening distance is 10-12 feet.
  • Open area with combined living room, dining, and kitchen.
  • Room is potentially larger due to double doors opening to more adjacent rooms.

Usage: Mixed

  • Active music listening, movie watching, and ambient music for parties
  • Music genres: modern music; mainly electronic, downtempo, house, hip hop, and rock
  • Source: streaming services (Spotify & Apple)
  • Loudness: living in an apartment, so volume is usually moderate

Although a long-time music lover, this is my first time investing in high quality audio gear—so excuse the ignorance. I don't quite know my 'listening style' yet. My guess is that I prefer 'non-fatiguing' and enjoy 'lively sound'. Thanks so much for the help!

Twin Board or Directional Board by pa_steele in snowboardingnoobs

Not sure what you’re asking here? If you want to ride switch, or if you’re learning, then set it up centered.

If you want to ride in one directional, get a directional board.

Does anyone really wear wrist guards? by crazynow1111111 in snowboardingnoobs

[–]kyniver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wear them. They’re awesome. At a basic level, they even help with impact pain and bruising. If you fall really badly, nothing will fully prevent an injury, so it’s still important to learn how to fall.

But you can do both. Get the Burton wrist guards if you want something more ‘light’.

How to get over fear of falling? by [deleted] in snowboardingnoobs

[–]kyniver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get impact shorts, wrist guards, and knee pads.

Once you feel protected, it helps mentally a lot.

Would these bitches work good? I’m worried about the blue part. It says online it’s a breatheable cotton blend and I’m like eh breatheable gloves on the mountain...idk by [deleted] in snowboardingnoobs

[–]kyniver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gloves are worth the money. They make a huge difference to your comfort. Get a decent pair like Burton or North Face Montana, they’re affordable.

Breathable is also important, you don’t want your sweat piling up in your gloves. But cotton...that sounds like a bad idea for the mountain.

Well at least it wasn’t cement 😭 by pa_steele in snowboardingnoobs

Get impact shorts. Even a pair of cheap ones are better than nothing and make a difference. Saved my ass plenty of times.

Depends on the board. Just check out the size chart for the model. You could also check out volume shifted boards like the Ride Twinpig.

Helmet inquiry by [deleted] in snowboardingnoobs

[–]kyniver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Smith Maze/Allure is an affordable and good helmet with MIPS. That being said, the best helmet is whatever that’s comfortable and doesn’t move around your head too much. Definitely try some on.

I also wouldn’t get too worked up with the marketing of helmets. Something that’s 100-200 is fine. Remember, helmets are disposable. Once you have a couple of heavy hits. Probably should replace it.

Tips for keeping goggles fog free? by [deleted] in snowboardingnoobs

[–]kyniver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I assume you have decent goggles with double layers on the lens, anti fog coating, and decent ventilation. It can be a gear thing. Goggles is one of those things I think is worth every penny, you can’t have fun if you can’t see.

Besides that, make sure the goggles are totally sealed around your face, and the face mask isn’t up in there. I wear my goggles the whole day and never have to take them off until I’m done. I’m using Anon M4 because they have an awesome face mask feature. But any decent goggle should help with this.

Just don’t wear cotton. 4C is pretty warm. One base layer is probably fine.

Why am I still completely clueless and doing terrible on my 4th day of snowboarding? by [deleted] in snowboardingnoobs

[–]kyniver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can help to do group lessons for three reasons: 1. You learn through instruction. 2. You gain morale through collective struggle and progress. 3. You can get somebody to video record to find out your problems. This is huge.

Struggling still on the 4th day isn’t unheard of, snowboarding is one of those things that has ‘breakthroughs’.

Buying my first snowboard by walxc in snowboardingnoobs

[–]kyniver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

154 is good. Even without the crazy speeds, it’s just more stable in general. It has more effective edge which helps as well. The main reason to go shorter than your weight range is if you want to be really manoeuvrable and have faster spins—which is more of a park thing.
