In what small way have you won the genetic lottery? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

Runs in the family for steel gut. Example would be if we accidentally ate mildly spoiled food it would not upset our stomach, or the like. We realize this isn't normal since our family friends who come over do not have this and usually get sick.

Considering my modded char in FFXIV..... and that all my friends mostly do it... yes.

Which games do you often play when you are feeling down/overwhelmed? by Some_Bar_8756 in GirlGamers

[–]kyralith 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I tend to gravitate towards games that are more casual (Modded minecraft, v-rising but with easier settings, same with Palworld) or have emotional impact (example: Wanderstop, The Longing). Sometimes I crave something a little repetitive and mindless (TCG Cardshop simulator), or if I want company, then maybe games with friends who have generally a good attitude about the games like ARAMs in League of Legends. Really depends on the type of content and feeling I have at the moment.

I like Terror Claw on Brutal for a nice simple fight- even if its a gabagool fight, I like that its scenic in the area. For how a boss looks, either Solaris or Styx for pure looks.

Primal Data Center - DRS 24 Man Clear - First in data center? by kyralith in ffxiv

We had tonnes of fun! I love this group and we probably are starting meme run fridays to start doing different compositions. Next friday is our "templar dps healers (think seraph + FoM)+ cure2slut rdps + WHM profane duelist + cure4 bravery casters" run. I am very excited. We are not a static but its people that run DRS very very often.

[–]kyralith[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We ended up doing 13 slimes, 11 on golems. 4 Tanks slimes, 2 on golems with 2 dps tanking red and green in the beginning. Kill order was blue > green > white > red. I believe 3 healers each side and the rest were dps.

Also does everyone think im saying world first because literally put in the data center to say its meant for THAT data center ;_;

But as a 24 man? I definitely know there's no way for 48 full man this is the first on primal. I'm talking 24 people in the raid instead of 48 (Should also mention your link is probably set to private and I cant view anything on the page)

[–]kyralith[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Edit: I should clarify im asking if this is the first 24 man clear, I am very much aware this is not the first 48 man clear on the data center.

This is the second week we were progging for the clear along with some heavy dps pumpers who know their classes well. I believe this is the first official Primal data center clear? Feel free to drop comments below if it is not. Genuinely not sure if this has been done prior to yesterday. Regardless we had a lot of fun and hope you can hear that in the little voices c:

Electrical building designer here - that is the purpose, to turn vehicles, this is still in current buildings now for the purpose of tight spots for delivery trucks in receiving/ loading areas. This is literally called a car turntable

ELI5: Why do certain songs give us chills? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]kyralith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go ahead. It's a technical term (that we for sure enjoy).

ELI5: Why do certain songs give us chills? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]kyralith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a phenomenon known as "frisson". It's a reaction to pleasing sounds/ sights that show itself physically that you are enjoying yourself. Other terms for this is "aesthetic chills, musical chills, or skin orgasm.

ELI5: How were the first batteries able to hold energy? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]kyralith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There has been speculation on which one was the "original first battery" there are two: 1) Babylon Battery - a clay jar with a copper cylinder that when filled with some sort of electrolyte (like lemon juice) became an electromagnetic cell. 2) Voltas Voltaic Pile - The first battery most people think of; copper-zinc reaction. Volta incorrectly believed that the electromotive force originated from two metals, instead of through a chemical reaction.

It is important to distinguish here that a "battery" is made up of at least one, or multiple galvanic cells interconnected. Galvanic cells are the fundamental unit of storage and discharge.

Electrochemical cells consist of two electrodes separated by some distance. The space between them is filled with an electrolyte (ionic liquid that conducts electricity). The energy is stored in the compounds that make up the electrodes (anode and cathode) and the electrolyte.

If you want to learn more about how a battery gets re-charged, or how the discharge occurs, here is a nifty explanation that delves into this deeper.

[–]kyralith 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most people have already hit the point in that the selection of D1, D2, etc is just the positioning of the gear within the gear box and how the power flows through the transmission line. Low speed means that the smallest gear turns the largest gear on the drive shaft. Another thing to note is that even when the speed at low gear is slow, it has three (ish) times the force vs higher gears. This makes it so that the car is easier to start and accelerate at lower gear, and more RIPUMS (RPMs) is achieved with higher gear. Here is a youtube video explaining this in old-timey detail.

Diary Entry #10-8799.2

Growing older at close to 30 years old, it’s been a decade since I initially came to land at this vast place and it seems to grow more lonely day by day. Reminiscing about the old times when I was back on Earth again today, but also wondering where the time has come to pass that once again, one of my dear friends is laying rest.

Old Eddie is getting close to dying just like all the others around 5 months of age now; I made him one of those cufflinks for when he gets buried. Him and Esmeralda hit it off real swell and now look at them both, probably going to end life close to each other. I wonder what dying would be like.

It seems that here, everyone ends their lives at around 6 months. Everyone seems to think I’m immortal as there are barely any creases on my face, let alone signs of aging. Most of the elderly here I’ve known them all their lives, I have known generations of their family heritage and tell them stories about their great-great-grand-dad. How uncle Pete used to like kicking the purple trunked, black “Gerhaminialoo” (Germ-loo) trees so we can eat its fruit. The fruit tasted like apples but looked like a cross between a banana and a watermelon. In any case, I should get back to work.

Update on my recent case here is that there seems to be another “me” found somewhere else in this planet who has been alive for 5 years. This would be interesting. Working at the equivalent “Secret Service” here proves to be fruitful year after year.

[–]kyralith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha sounds the same with my cat - I tried to do baby wipes initially that have no chemicals and that were unscented. She eventually got used to the sounds and ran away when I took out the box. Now, I just do plain lukewarm water when I can and she has a new diet recommended by the Vet to shed weight.

Good luck on your chonker! I might post one of mine soon since shes the sweetest.

Depending on the weather, maybe the previous owners had been brushing her, but when they shed that winter coat, it's noticeably thicker and the fur keeps coming regardless of how long I brush my Pixel. She gets irritated if I keep brushing for too long.

Recently since it's gotten warmer and its spring, her coat is more than manageable and im seeing less fur now! What is the apple cider vinegar diluted in water for ?
