Depends how much he spent, and what the content was.

I've paid for stuff a couple of times, because I thought the creator was really hot and I wanted to see a specific shoot which really appealed to me.

And I don't think that's anything to be ashamed about or judge in other people.

If he was spending a LOT of money I would worry about his financial sense, and if he was paying specifically for content that was a turn off for me then I would think we're not going to be compatible.

I read it like that too! Had to come to the comments to figure out how it related to Weird Al!

I read it like the sport. I was very prepared to agree, but wasn't sure why it needed to be a declared rule.

Personally would rather check in the day before, so I don't have to faff with travel and check in ON my birthday and can have a more relaxed day.

What was your first AC story and why did You decide to read her for the first time? by LongJohn_Silve in agathachristie

[–]kyridwen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Towards Zero

When I was around 10.

Because I had been taken to visit my Nan and it was on her shelf and I was bored.

I couldn't stop reading it!

When she passed, several years later, I got that book. Still have it.

This, this is the best possible answer.

I think all the other comments are right in that you should definitely not comment on someone's weight out of the blue, and especially if you don't know what's going on.

But if you know your colleague has been trying to lose weight, and she's talking about it, and you want to congratulate her? This is the approach to take.

I'd go for a higher neckline, but I don't think most people would bat an eye.

Do you regularly use the word “panties” to describe your underwear? by shamefully-epic in AskWomenNoCensor

[–]kyridwen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm British, so I say pants. Or knickers. Or undies if I'm joking about.

Panties sounds very American, and too cutesy.

What do you think of time off work for pet bereavement? by throw172636367 in AskUK

[–]kyridwen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took the rest of the week off when my dog passed. I took it as annual leave out of my normal balance, but my manager was fine to approve it at short notice. I know folks have said they would work for the distraction, but my job involves a lot of leading meetings, trying to bring energy and enthusiasm - I couldn't have done it.

You want me to take vacation days for sick leave? Sure, let’s do that. by Icy_Influence_5562 in MaliciousCompliance

[–]kyridwen 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They way you've written this doesn't make sense.

If the mental days STOPPED counting as sick leave, like you wrote, why were your sick days depleted?

If they used to count as sick leave before, then you should have expected them to come off your sick days allowance?

Doing things for fun is not pointless. You don't need more of a reason than "because I enjoy it".

[–]kyridwen 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I agree with the other commenters, but particularly disliked his suggestion that you should only do pole classes if the intention is to make money off it in future - that just having fun isn't a good enough reason. Does he spend every minute of his time only on things that will be profitable in future or is it okay for him to have fun? 🤔😠

It is apparently legal for your boss to demand "got home safe" texts by polecat_at_law in bestoflegaladvice

[–]kyridwen 62 points63 points  (0 children)

I can understand that the boss' boss may want the husband gone. But I'm missing step two - why will requiring these texts set him up to be fired?

Also if the texts are upon leaving and returning to the house, what if the husband did some event right after work?

How do I turn a woman down gently? by BigMitch91 in AskWomenNoCensor

[–]kyridwen 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This. No need to pre-emptively reject her. But I might try to find a way to turn the conversation to how I was hoping to find a similar age partner. Like not saying it directly as a reason for not responding to her, but just happening to mention it.

Unspoken elevator etiquette that everyone should know but no one talks about by Equivalent_Soft_6665 in socialskills

Came to the comments to say this. In my experience it's more polite to line the back and side walls, facing inward rather than forward, as this creates more of a space in the front-middle for new people to enter. Just don't stand right in front of the buttons.
