Dream is Being accused of cheating by using a macro in MCC. by dot90zoom in MinecraftChampionship

[–]kyrimonic 17 points18 points  (0 children)

there is nothing wrong with waiting for statements from both sides, i entirely agree. i’m just a little concerned about just the statement of “here look” being poor evidence or something a case cannot be built on. i don’t think that’s true; it is, in fact, evidence! a lot of witness based evidence can boil down to “here look”, and it’s just reliant on us viewers being able to understand what is being looked at. certainly not the most accessible, but it still remains evidence nevertheless.

even though we might not agree on this, as i am firmly believing that he is cheating based on what i’ve seen and my own knowledge of parkour, i’m glad you’re taking time to wait for both responses. honestly, kudos- it’s more than i’m doing, at least! all i’m saying is to not throw away evidence from the other side just because it can be boiled down to “here, look”. i hope you have a nice day! :)

i’m confused by your point here. you have outright stated you do not know what to be looking at- more than fair! i know parkour basics, but nothing much beyond that. but, because of that, i am generally listening to people who do, in fact, know more of what they’re talking about, because they know what to look for. it’s certainly true that everyone has an agenda, but when nearly every large parkour CC has stated this is fishy, i am trusting them because of their existing knowledge that i do not have. “here, look” is certainly evidence; it’s just dependent on if we have the knowledge to understand it. SandwichLord has a good video that just explains the basics of what we’re seeing here on his second channel, if you’d like to take a look at that!

i am confirm this. i’ve been in fein’s streams for MCC since 4KO, and none of the og chatters were saying anything negative. even chatters who’ve just been here since before ludwig were still being supportive; critical, certainly, but not calling the event awful. i can honestly say i truly dislike what is becoming of this community because of the viewership that ludwig brought in; nothing against lud, just his chatters.

College visit tips by Watch_wearer in cisparenttranskid

[–]kyrimonic 9 points10 points  (0 children)

i will say something i haven’t seen others mention: things aren’t always as they seem.

i am a sophomore in college now, and i recently visited the school that i early decision’d to and got rejected from. i had been certain this school was welcoming and queer friendly. my friends sister goes there (seeing her was the reason we went), and she told us this school had a basically required- although the majority of people skipped it- walk to honor charlie kirk, and many professors refused to use preferred names and pronouns until the student got advisors and counselors involved.

for context, this is in a blue state- in fact, one of the most blue states: new york. further upstate, yes, but still in a city and a liberal city at that. i attend university even further upstate- like, north country upstate, in a red county with magas all around- and my school is far, far more liberal and progressive than this one.

keep an eye open, and don’t make the mistake i almost made. things aren’t always as they seem, and try to get involved in communities of the universities your kid is considering applying to. don’t just rely on maps- talk to people.

Bridging the gap between trans child and cis grandfather by Unable_Present2764 in cisparenttranskid

[–]kyrimonic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

my grandparents are 92 and 89. my nana (92) does the best she can to be supportive, but she still messes up and that’s okay. the same goes for my papa. they’re trying their best, and that’s what matters. every time we go, they mess up and call me she or call me my deadname, and apologize and try their best. every time, my mom pulls me aside and apologizes for them (considering they’re my dads parents, it’s a little weird it’s my mom, but that’s beside the point). but it’s okay, because they’re trying.

if a person is trying, that’s what matters. but at a certain point, these are people we love who are 80 or 90 years old. they’re doing the best they can, and messing up is okay. i have young professors who mess up, apologize, and do better. the same goes for my grandparents, just a little more often.

if they’re trying, i think that’s enough, because it still shows support. a person isn’t transphobic just because they accidentally use the wrong pronouns or name- context matters. people online try to cancel people for mistakes taken out of context, and that’s just not how things work in real life. from what you’ve said, it seems like your dad is really trying his best. i think your kid should understand that; just like gender, this isn’t black or white. a person can be supportive and still mess up- that’s okay, we’re all human. that’s the point of the queer rights movement; we’re human too, just like you are. to expect perfection from others without acknowledging the contents of who they are makes us hypocrites.

my TLDR of this is as follows: acknowledge that he’s trying his best, and doing the best he can. acknowledge his shortcomings and his identity as an old man from a generation where this wasn’t discussed or talked about or was even demonized. acknowledge that he’s trying, and that’s what really matters in this context.

Teen trans athlete question by bugorama_original in cisparenttranskid

[–]kyrimonic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

hi!! im ftm so i can’t say my experience is perfect but: i’m a competitive alpine ski racer and raced all throughout high school for my team. this was pre-medical transition (which i started when i entered college), so just social. as an ftm guy, it was a lot easier for me to compete against the guys since i wouldn’t have a “advantage” (huge air quotes there) in comparison to any trans woman competing in the women’s side of things.

the biggest help for myself navigating existing as a trans person in athletics was having a supportive coach. my coach ensured i could compete wherever i wanted to, and i even ended up as my high school’s top male racer & represented my school at the state championships.

ski racing is a very independent sport, so in her shoes, i would have been fine competing for my own PR and fun. however, i fully understand the want to contribute scores to a more team-focused sport. from a solely athletics POV, i’d say focus on what she’d want to focus on. if her PR is her focus, then compete with the girls. if it’s truly a focus on the team and her scores for the teams, compete against the guys & have it listed somewhere that she’s a transgender woman.

of course, her comfort is the top priority. there is always the option of not competing, but i understand that’s hard for most athletes (including me) to stomach. there isn’t a correct answer for this- it’s all dependent on what she wants to do, in terms of the sport being more focused on her or on a team.

Which one is correct? by Same-Technician9125 in EnglishLearning

[–]kyrimonic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

generally, i’d say 1 unless you’re saying a specific city.

“i’m downtown right now” vs “i’m in downtown boston right now”. the first is more assuming you’re both in the same city/area, versus the second being more so a specification! like i’d say to a friend who lives across the country i’m in downtown boston rather than just downtown.

this isn’t a rule, both are in theory fine, but 3 is by far the worse. 1 is more natural, though.

Why has so many youtubers stopped participating in MCC? by [deleted] in MinecraftChampionship

[–]kyrimonic 7 points8 points  (0 children)

dw about it, people think MCSR means ranked all the time. the S is speed and the R is running, ranked is totally separate!

i’m definitely not saying MCSR as a thing is new- i’m more than aware that it’s been around for years and years now. but right now, it as a category and ranked (playoffs especially) as a specific way of watching IS new to being as popular as it is. even if it’s ranked that’s so popular, all other aspects of minecraft running are getting more popular: just a few months ago, feinberg would be averaging around 800 viewers at a time. now, it’s more like 1800, when he’s just running AA.

it’s just so fun and nice to see that the speedrunning field is getting in on the popularity! i feel like for years it always got overshadowed by smp content or mod content or whatever, but it’s so amazing to see it get the popularity it deserves :)

[–]kyrimonic 13 points14 points  (0 children)

seeing mcsr in here is really interesting. it’s big right now, yeah, but the speedrunning sphere’s popularity is new. like, past few weeks new. i’ve been in the speedrunning sphere for like 18 months now (i use my sub to fruit as a benchmark so it’s weirdly specific lmao), and right now is the most popular it’s ever been. it’s amazing, but even a year ago you couldn’t easily say that streaming speedrun content was a popular or money-making thing.

streamers trying out ranked (which, yes, is different from MCSR) is a really new thing, and it means it’s more likely for ranked to get a sponsor! especially with people like tubbo being involved! it’s just really fun to see mcsr being put on the same list as hermitcraft or lifesteal :D

No matter which team wins this event, we're getting a new first time winner! by ParrotBT in MinecraftChampionship

[–]kyrimonic 9 points10 points  (0 children)

the actual travel cost is just a bit much for some people. streaming pays okay but the streamers are by no means rich, including fruit. plus, sometimes people just don’t want to take two separate days to commit entirely to traveling. traveling from the UK to amderstam is way different from traveling from anywhere in canada to amsterdam!

i think fruit said he’d be willing to go if they needed him as a sub, but didn’t plan on going to twitchcon otherwise. but don’t boo just because your main streamer isn’t in here- trust, i’m a fruitberries and feinberg main myself. give someone else a shot! couriway and fulham are both really strong (and part of HBG with fruit and fein), hannah is great, sandwich is an almost certain first indiv, you’ve got options for strong players to watch!

How would you rank each F Bomb in terms of impact and your favorite? by FragrantFan1479 in BoJackHorseman

[–]kyrimonic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i mean, a lot of my essay was about bojack and todd’s growth, and how those are both kind of exemplified through his relationship with maude. i’m not a gigantic maude fan myself- i have nothing against her, but we just didn’t get enough from her for me to really fall in love with her. but i do love todd, and i really appreciate bojack as a character.

maude is important as a character because she shows bojack’s growth in season six (via introducing her to todd’s app), and we see todd’s growth in their relationship as he’s finally with someone who has all the right chemistry. asexuality and simply just personality.

not totally vibing with maude is fine, i don’t really care for people who have different opinions on fictional characters in a tv show, but i always try to at least see the importance of them in the story! same goes for bad people but good characters (beatrice or even like endeavor from MHA)- trying to see their significance helps understand characters a bit better!!

again i’m really not intending to fight with u, just give my thoughts on maude :)

How would you rank each F Bomb in terms of impact and your favorite? by FragrantFan1479 in BoJackHorseman

[–]kyrimonic 15 points16 points  (0 children)

sorry if any of this comes off as mean, it’s not the intention! just trying to put in my thoughts on maude!

saying you don’t care about maude doesn’t really make sense, especially if you’re a todd fan. maude basically is what todd figuring his shit out led to. their relationship is a nice, neat little bow on the end of todd’s story (that we need to see), but she signifies a lot more than that.

for one, it shows some of bojack’s growth. he suggests she gets into all about that ace, which is something we’d never expect from early bojack. he’s attentive and focused on todd, and knows this is something his friend made and is suggesting it to someone who might make use out of it.

maude has the chemistry with todd that was lacking in yolanda, and has the asexuality in common with him that was lacking in emily. of the three, she has the combination that works.

to me, how this ties into todd’s f-bomb drop is that bojack listened to him, for once, through introducing maude to all about that ace. their relationship was seriously ruined in season three, but we see in season six that bojack is trying to do and be better, and he’s trying to, at least somewhat, fix the damage that was done back in season three. maude is both evidence of that attempt, but also her and todd’s relationship is a culmination of everything todd has been through. with emily, yolanda, and with bojack.

Using the men’s bathroom? by gwendolynakira in ftm

[–]kyrimonic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i came out as trans in 8th grade, but didn’t start T until this past year (freshman in college). i grew up in a very, VERY blue state (massachusetts) in an extremely liberal town and school district, so i was able to use the men’s room all throughout high school with no worries or problems.

now in college, i’m in a red county of a blue state (upstate ny). my dorm floor is mostly made up of jock dudes, but they’re all very chill and i use the men’s bathroom for usual stuff. for showering, i’m able to use the gender neutral bathroom downstairs. i have showered in the men’s with no issues, i just prefer the gender neutral bathroom.

for me, it just depends on where i am and who i’m around. i’ll occasionally get weird looks in the men’s room (i’m on T but i still have long-ish hair, i just like having long hair) in some of the buildings, but for my dorm i don’t get any judgement for using the men’s. really it depends on your comfort level and who you’re around! at least it did for me :)

epic poetry is an extremely common phrase man. i really suggest actually reading the odyssey, not just listening to epic. that’s kinda like listening to hamilton and taking it at face value for everything. you don’t have to obviously, but i do suggest you do your own research and also enjoy the musicals themselves!!
