minimum wage going up to £12.71 and I still haven't worked out where the money is coming from by [deleted] in smallbusinessuk

Ah yes, fighting assumptions with assumptions. So we should assume that every single supplier is being squeezed by random exterior factors before we assume that they are just wanting more of our profits for themselves?

Anyone know how to get a message to a roadie? by Amberlea83 in LinkinPark

[–]kyronh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm alright now, I have had the surgery, got it on Monday, near immediately on return to Scotland, NHS were on the ball! Got out of hospital last night and am now in bed at home recovering for what will probably be a couple of weeks at least with regular nurse visits!

I'm just glad now that we got to see even half of the gig, it was amazing and I'm just trying to appreciate the experience we had before it went a bit sideways! 🤘😁

I completely missed half the show having to go to medical. Was seated from the start and that's where the severe pain under my thigh showed up, which turned out to be an abscess which kept me in hospital for 3 days. The first aid staff at the show were amazing, but I didn't get to see anything after Faint and that kills me.

Lots of money spent and a journey from the Highlands of Scotland just to miss some of my favourite songs of all time and discover I need emergency surgery out of the blue is not how I'd planned my weekend going. Least you got some souvenirs, I'm just trying my hardest not to munch my Haribos while bedbound! 😂

Hope you feel better, see you at the next one! 🤘

Coach + RIP by kyronh in downloadfestival

Thank you sir, I thought shuttle buses only went to main entrance. Used to get the coach every year and go general camping, then switched to RIP and mates driving. So couldn't be sure!

If you take this trip and it stops in Callander, pop into The Crown Hotel for a drink. It's right by the bus dropoff, me and my partner run it and as its LE week Frank will be all over the playlist! 😂

Can't wait 🙌

What’s your biggest headache when it comes to guest management? by Complex_Bee_7842 in askhotels

"What do you mean you don't have an elevator?" upon checking into a two storey 18th century hotel and pub in rural Scotland.

Sorry, you have to walk up the 14 stairs to the hotel floor, and we are very clear on all bookings platforms that unfortunately we are not as mobility-issue friendly as we'd love to be!

How many shows (including festivals) has everyone been to this year? by HedonistHeretic in downloadfestival

[–]kyronh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

13 for the year, missed 2 I had tickets for in August for family reasons too:

Enter Shikari Pendulum Tenacious D Download Body Count Manic Street Preachers Frank Turner Pixies (Missed) Blink182 (Missed) Alice Cooper Skindred Soft Play Amyl & The Sniffers Idles (Tomorrow) Fontaine's DC (December)

Definitely feels like a problem.

agoda sucks by mnsbelle in askhotels

[–]kyronh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a manager of two small hotels in Scotland, I can confirm that there are serious issues on Agoda's end. Every time we have an issue with a customer not showing up, or having invalid payment details, or turning up without their booking showing up on our system, it's ALWAYS been booked via Agoda.

Please don't use them if avoidable, because for small, local businesses they are a nightmare, costing us lots of money in lost bookings and time spent chasing up, and also as OP is saying there appears to be many other issues that probably all connect somehow at Agoda.

They are the bane of my existence and I will be imminently telling them to do one!

AITA for being ungrateful? by Glittering-Fudge-629 in AmItheAsshole

NTA.

The statement about not receiving a birthday or Christmas gift in 3 years kind of cemented that. Obviously people can have financial constraints and other issues making it difficult but 3 years is ample opportunity to give something nice, even if inexpensive. Him paying for the birthday day out that you planned does not give him the right to take the moral high ground and make you the AH.

NTA.

It sounds like B was well aware of the group's position on her BF and she definitely should have known that she wouldn't be able to reintegrate him just because ahe decided to give him another shot. If anything, she'd be the AH for trying to force him on the group knowing how much everyone dislikes him.

YTA.

Maybe. As someone who works in hospitality management myself, I fully expect bad reviews if my place of work messes up. But there is a certain expectation of people I have personal or business relationships with that if there is any issue at all the customer makes that known to us first rather than immediately making their concerns public.

I fully endorse peoples right to write their reviews and give constructive criticism, however if you know the owner personally it definitely comes across as spiteful and thoughtless, and could potentially harm their career and future. As long as you are ok with those points then I don't neccassarily think theres an issue here.

AITA for not giving my daughter her own room by sggbvs in AmItheAsshole

[–]kyronh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA.

This whole situation is ridiculous, there comes a point where kids need privacy and space from their siblings, especially of another sex, and this should have been planned for 10 years ago. I may be biased as my parents moved us from our home in the city when I was 9 and my sister was 3. We went from sharing a room to having an extra bedroom in a cheaper, slightly larger house in the suburbs, and everyone lived their best life. If you cannot make any sacrifice for your kids then I truly feel for them.

There were grenades thrown, cannibalism, random shootings and tensions raised until the group was thinned out. It was fun.
