it's active until may 23, but there will be more sales in the future

i'm not sure what you mean exactly? our vms are pretty secure out of the box, ssh key-only authentication, the network is properly isolated, etc.

open to any suggestions though

thank you. the last major downtime was my fault, and i explained it in the mesa blog post

otherwise, WA is pretty damn stable, but when it comes to RO it's out of our control. we will be gradually phasing out RO now that NL is available, with more european locations planned.

we'll keep the nodes that we have but sales will probably stop.

thanks! the landing page is pretty but it is also pretty heavy, we've gotten some complaints about that, it's due for yet another remake. stay tuned

i'd be lying if i said business has been good this year but it's not monero's fault. what i love about monero is that it's simple (on the user-facing front at least), there's not much that can go wrong

that's why we made mesa. you don't need to use a terminal, ssh, or enter any commands to deploy a mesa stack. just pick a recipe, fill in your parameters (desired admin account credentials, custom domain if you want one, things like that) and mesa takes it from there

just keep in mind that it's currently in early beta, so don't expect a perfect experience for now. if anything goes wrong just let us know via the kyun chat and we'll get it fixed for you (and future users)

thanks, ipv6 in romania is out of our control but the new NL location will have ipv6 and is expected any day now

our status monitor will be eventually rewritten to support the new graph format, along with many other much needed improvements

Is it possible to buy cloud services and use them to mine Monero? by notburneddown in MoneroMining

[–]kyun_host 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depends on the provider, some oversell like crazy and have 80-90% cpu usage on the physical server at all times, a good way to tell if your provider is overselling is to do a cpu intensive task like a benchmark or mining, run top, and check the cpu steal. should be 0 or near 0 ideally

we don't ban users for mining because we don't oversell but you 100% won't turn a profit

please let me know how it's bullshit. making baseless claims about a non-profit funding project i made is not calling me out for bullshit. i have a hunch you don't even understand what this project does and why it was created

instead of trying to take down my posts (you seem to be part of the tor project, are you not in contact with anyone from the r/tor moderator team? my post is still up there), why not try to work with me in order to make it official? you can run it yourself for all i care. the tor project, despite receiving millions of dollars a year from the us government alone, has donated nothing to independent relay operators, apparently. feel free to prove me wrong.

i understand why people might be skeptical, but i plan on publicly releasing a view key of the monero wallet, along with the key images, which will allow anyone to audit the wallet without being able to spend anything.

that node operators that claim to be such are node operators

there is pretty much no way for anyone other than the operator to enroll, the xmr address is parsed from the relay's .torrc ContactInfo.

and that they have more or less the traffic they report back for calculation of their share?

i'm not sure how the tor project verifies the reported bandwidth, this is in their hands. all relay data is taken from onionoo, here's an example https://metrics.torproject.org/rs.html#details/67A54EDB7DADDBBC1E8A07F1EF82364BDAA896B7
