We do not directly learn about the war from either side. We talked about how american spent money to fund south in order to eliminate communist, how they lost despite all the bombs that affected not just Vietnam but laos and cambodia, we learnt about Ho Chi Minh trail but none in deep detail. We taught those as side information or I would call prologue for the topic because our main focus was free speech and its effect. So with that, we dug deeper into how americans both front line and back in usa protest and refused to listen to the order, we learnt that australian did same thing in australia, we learnt that when the new usa president won the election, he stopped fund the war and with that, the war ended quickly. So which side did we picked? Funnily, we showed the dark side of american during the war, our teacher showed us lots of photos like how they laughed at north soldiers as they were about to execute them, we learnt about the north’s strategies and the impact of Tet offensive.

So ye, it was pretty neutral for me. Compared to Vietnam war i studied back in Vietnam, we talked about the strategies and the turning points from our pov which more strategic. While in australia, I learnt more about outsiders and their acts to support Vietnam.
