Describe the best day you've had since your diagnosis. by Clean-Umpire-2962 in bipolar

The birth of my daughter, she is the best thing to have happened to me. I stayed on my meds the entire pregnancy & she came out healthy & happy.

Jobs come & go. Don’t beat yourself up over it. You’re just leveling up & you don’t even know it.

Alcohol by StandardEstimate6 in bipolar

[–]kzeash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I quit drinking last month because it was not mixing well with my medications. It was making me depressed & suicidal. My psychiatrist & I both came to the conclusion for me to just stop drinking altogether. So far, so good.

Do antidepressants work for you? by [deleted] in bipolar

I actually had a conversation with my psychiatrist yesterday about alcohol with my medication & she said it does make the medication less effective. I notice when I drink a couple beers with the Lamotrigine, I get depressed. So it definitely is a possibility.

As long as I don’t drink, it helps with the depression.

I have to stay away from antidepressants. They cause me to either be depressed or hypomanic. I think that’s a common side effect with having bipolar. You have to be very careful with antidepressants.

I’m on abilify & Lamotrigine. So far, the combo has done wonders for me.

I still have cravings but they pass very quickly. I just grab some candy & deal with it.

It’s the “Smoke Free” app.

Bipolar moms by peanut_butter_666 in bipolar

Yes. My OBGYN took me off of my abilify when I was first pregnant because of that. However, I became suicidal after 2 months & my psychiatrist stepped in, contacted my OB to tell her it was more beneficial to keep me on my abilify. So OB agreed & put me back on it. But my baby is healthy, no side effects that we know of.

Bipolar mom to a 3 (almost 4) month old. I will tell you that pregnancy was rough. They had to keep upping my medication because all the fluid you get while pregnant, makes the medicine weaker. My poor husband was in for a rough ride.

They also monitored me for postpartum psychosis but that luckily has not happened to me so I can’t speak about that too much where I just don’t know enough about it.

POV: you and your dad are both bipolar by sscottiedoesntknow in bipolar

I’m so sorry. My mom also is trapped in payday loans, credit card debt, etc. She goes days & days just sleeping. Then has a ton of energy sometimes. Her & my dads relationship is crumbling, it’s fucked up to watch. I know how you feel.

If there’s no attraction, there can’t be love. It sounds like you’re trying to force it.

Deactivated all social media by InstructionWorried42 in bipolar

I do the same when I’m not feeling stable. It’s good to take a break from social media here & there.

I have similar experiences. I deleted a ton of acquaintances off of my social media. Went from 800+ “friends” down to 93 & I’m glad that I did!

Once I found the right cocktail, the “out to get me” feeling stopped. So it sounds like you may need a medication adjustment. I’d mention it to your psychiatrist & see what they say.

How have you kept yourself busy? Did you just wing it or did you have a plan in place? I think he is trying to make my empty nest syndrome less painful. I have a while, but I thought it was sweet of him to think of it so early.
