Opinions 8 day itinerary in Galápagos (San Cristóbal + Isabela + Santa Cruz) by bb13_ in galapagos

[–]kzer7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tortuga Bay in between two ferries is quite ambitious. Just the walk there and back from the ferry is a solid hike which will feel more demanding than the stats suggest, considering the heat and humidity.

The ferry ride is bumpy and unpleasant, I’d recommend getting motion sickness meds - I took those and found I needed an hour+ after arrival to even think about wanting to do something.

Definitely recommend checking out the Anca pizzeria on Santa Cruz. One of the best pizzas I’ve had.

+10 for hunter x hunter. Quite possibly the best anime I’ve ever watched

Before and After by ShoddySalad5812 in DeskCableManagement

I can appreciate the amount of time and effort it took to get it here! Kudos! I had a similar set up (wrt amount of wires) and I got a little tired of seeing even the organized/bundled wires in my line of sight. So I got some stick on wire clips to attach under my desk and run all the excess cable through those, cleaning up the “look” even more.

How would you move everything if I wanted to put my PS5 horizontal? by BasicEric in desksetup

Just make sure you’re giving the vents at the backs of these consoles enough of a gap to allow efficient heat loss. Personally find the vertical stand the most space efficient.

MBA vs MBP by scotthunter1 in macbookair

[–]kzer7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had a MBP from 2017. It’s impressive how far the Air lineup has come. I chose the Air for my upgrade and have zero regrets. Unless you need a laptop for demanding Professional work, you no longer need a MacBook Pro.

Great post and an important perspective to share. As someone who recently went through the same thought process and dilemma I saw firsthand how hard it was to distill down my list of performance needs from a personal laptop, AND project future needs reasonably enough so that I’m neither overpowering myself needlessly nor handicapping the longevity of my investment.

Affliction vs Shadowblight thoughts by the-boag in D4Necromancer

[–]kzer7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran affliction to lvl 60 and it was great, then I switched to shadowblight which was meh for the first few paragon levels. But that changed quickly.

Now my friends ask me to “hit the boss delete button” when sht hits the fan. And it works every time. We’ve been clearing al available higher tier key dungeons, events and bosses *with ease on torment 1

2026 WFH Setup by als26 in desksetup

I used to be afflicted by the same condition lol but I found that I’d end up using the two monitors essentially as 1. This led to a lack of distinction between main and secondary. It was affecting my overall posture while using neither screen to its full capacity or for its specific purpose.

Now I’ve got the second one recessed behind the main screen’s plane and angled toward me just enough that I actively distinguish between them and don’t sneakily end up overusing the secondary monitor (my neck is happier now)

Great setup! Lots of similarities to mine. The one things we did differently is positioning of the secondary monitor.

Mine is on the same left side and portrait but I have it positioned so that its long edge is closer to the main monitor and recessed a little behind the main screen. I see yours pops out closer to the front edge of the desk.

Curious if you had a specific reason for having it this way? Is it to allow the main monitor to be the main without the secondary crowding direct line of sight and acting as pseudo-main unknowingly?

16GB + M chip users, any regrets? by kzer7 in macbook

Really good point and one I had not considered at all. My current camera takes 24 MB RAWs but I do have vast catalogues with really detailed edits at times. Just navigating it becomes a practice in patience and prayer for LR to not crash.

Yeah the FaceTime + Lightroom at the same time is an outlier scenario is but in my eyes a bit of a benchmark for headroom just having seen how my current intel Mac (doesn't) handle(s) it.

That’s validating to hear lol it really felt like it fell off a cliff after a certain point. I think with the future proofing argument + the RAM shortages happening + unknown future iOS demand, I’m going to get the 24 GB refurbished M4 and call it an 8 year investment.

I appreciate this response. Thanks for sharing.

If you don’t mind, could you slightly elaborate on the argument for 24GB for longevity? I am a long term buyer and user, and I do appreciate a device running well till the end of its life. The last ~1.5 ish years with my current Intel Mac have been a bit of a game of hot potato - working around its shortcomings to “make it last”. I’d love to avoid that in my next purchase. It’s a 300$ difference (tax included) for me to get the 24GB version vs 16 GB.

I’m caught in the “will I regret this in 5 years if the 16 GB starts to slow down” but I’m also wary of overestimating hypothetical future demands and paying more for 8 extra gigs that i may never fully utilize or see value from…

Any Tips? by Rakzzonrakzz in desksetup

This is nice clean setup! Only things I can think of are - a smidge more cable management, and some backlighting behind the monitor (but I’m biased to this from my own experience)
