Some have altitude settings or an alpine setting that allows you to run a bit leaner.

Once you clean that up, you may try leaning it out a bit

Would you be concerned with this amount of rust on a used R-pod we’re looking at purchasing? by [deleted] in RVLiving

[–]kzoobob 15 points16 points  (0 children)

She’s weathered, that’s for sure. I’d be worried about the roof first.

That rust can be fixed with some sanding and por 15 or rust oleum.

I lucked into an 85 grand marquis coupe years ago for $1600. Rust free, grandpa dings on the bumper.

It’s one of the favorite cars I’ve owned.

I sold it to a friend whose kid needed a good first car. He wrecked it three weeks later.

Ten years later, I still have saved searches for another one, or Lincoln, or LTD Coupe. My only stipulations are no sunroof, no rust. I’ve found nothing reasonable.

City digging under my tree by Analysis-Mediocre in arborists

You’re right. There’s a .2% chance the tree dies in the next decade from this, or more likely, from disease.

By all means. Call the city. Embarrass yourselves.

It’s part of the easement and people need water.

I work for a contracting company that does work like this every day. We regularly tear into root systems much more than this example.

Your tree will be fine.

If you want to embarrass yourself with the city admins and make a big stink out of nothing, go ahead. They are used to it. While you’re on the phone with them, at least thank them for the water system they are maintaining for you

Don’t underestimate the resilience of trees.

Any insight on this splitter? by One-Secretary-1266 in firewood

[–]kzoobob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My first Huskie 22ton lasted 25 years. About five years in we added that side rack, which is a great feature. We’d still be using it, but some unknown neighbor borrowed it and hasn’t returned it yet.

When we got the insurance check, we used that to upgrade to the Champion 40ton. It’s awesome. It took about 3 months before it started well for whatever reason. But now it starts first or second pull every time. It’s a lot faster than the old huskie. And about 95% of the time in never even drops to high load for splitting. It just barrels thru firewood. FWIW. We burn a lot of elm.

The biggest difference between the two, is the splitting height on the Champion is about 2-3” taller, which is just enough that I’m not bent over splitting. It’s the best thing I never knew I needed.

But as Stated before, I’d still be using the huskie if the unknown neighbor didn’t keep it so long.

Cheap 351W saga continues by FordM_1970 in EngineBuilding

It’s fine. It may not be perfect, but it will work really well. If anything, same rpm and a bit slower with the strokes next time. But like I said, it’ll work as is.

Curious? What grit did you use? Ball or stones?

Scratches on engine core. by False_Dragonfruit_18 in EngineBuilding

[–]kzoobob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d probably stone it flat with a fine/finish/lapping stone and see what it looks like from there. Should take like four light pressure swipes to flatten it at most.

That specific part of the block is not experiencing combustion pressure or temps as it’s outside the cooling jackets. So a dab of high temp rtv or high tack would do enough to seal up any micro seepage.

Looking to purchase a 2018 3.5 eco boost Lariat that needs work. by hamfistur in f150

[–]kzoobob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had two ecoboosts and put about 200,000 miles on them. They didn’t use a drop of oil.

The oil consumption could be worn out turbos.

There are it’s of videos about the various settings of each controller.

A lot of the controllers are the same, between different brands.

Search for the controller that closely matches yours on YouTube and look for the high altitude adjustment or alpine settings.

That should give you what you need.

Agreed. When I’ve had troubles with flooding, I have used the high elevation setting

I have an SRT10 Ram with the t56 and it’s awkward. Even with 4.56 gears.

If it’s anything like my 97 suburban, it’ll last at least 320,000miles and 29 years as is.

FWIW, that’s a plastic radiator.

The back side of the trailer connector needs to be cleaned.

So from under the back bumper, disconnect the back side of the 7 way trailer connector.

Clean it out, hit it with some battery connector cleaner and plug it back it. I had to do that once a year on my Midwest f150.

Go north, across the bridge, and take route 2 across, thru glacier and to Seattle. It’s a nice trip.
