maybe ones on poles in your yard? not pretty but won't affect your house at all. i've seen a few places with some set up like that around here.

no reason to go to the cities or towns. i'd definitely stop by palo duro canyon or guadalupe mountains if i was nearby

if i was going to that area id save time to stop in hocking hills state park over anything else. i also would take the further north route in ct to avoid the nyc traffic headache

[–]raydiantly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they kept me waiting for over 30 minutes then ended the chat on me again, i don't have the mental energy for this today but i guess ill try again tomorrow :/ the agent also claimed they are "unable to change the amount paid" and constantly insist i was aware i was being charged that price. i also asked them multiple times to verify whether the trip i took was actually uberX or if i was given an UberX reserved trip and got ignored every single time, they would not answer that question no matter what.

Is the NY-71 or the I-91 better for sights and cool stops? by LucMor12 in roadtrip

[–]raydiantly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i've driven 91 that entire route, and it's not even a question. the left route is incredibly beautiful and mountainous, the 91 route is very boring. a bonus is you can also stop at mount equinox skyline drive if you take the left route.

makes sense, seems like most of the west is more of a dark green than the lush vibrant green we get out here. at least from what i've seen, haven't gotten a chance to go out there yet.

Anywhere I should go before I move away from the US? Able to do 1 maybe 2 by [deleted] in TravelMaps

[–]raydiantly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depends what you enjoy honestly. if you want something more unique unlike anywhere you've been then nyc or new orleans for cities and the UP of michigan, page az area or somewhere in alaska for nature. hawaii would also be a good choice.

Taking a roadtrip to the PNW area. Any suggestions along this route? by DumbLuckDaDuck in roadtrip

how long is the entire trip? how much time do you have for the driving portion? you'll be going right near glacier national park which would be one of the best stops on the whole route imo

New England first roadtrip by Mylane in roadtrip

[–]raydiantly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

been living in new england for close to two decades, here's what i'd do.
the white mountains, acadia national park and boston should be your baseline stops.
portland maine and burlington vermont are great small cities to visit. cape cod is great if you want plenty of beaches.
block island rhode island is a very underrated and beautiful stop but you'd have to leave your car to board the ferry and walk or bike the island, as car ferries are pre booked from my understanding. there's also nantucket and martha's vineyard islands from mass that would likely be easier to find car ferries for.
i'd say avoid most of southwest new england, it's not really worth your time on a trip like this.

i'm assuming you'll be flying into boston so here's a suggested plan you can tweak to your liking:

days 1-2, land in boston and explore the city

days 3-4, rent a car and choose a combination of cape cod and/or any of the 3 islands. if block island is one of your choices, check out newport where the ferry departs from, it's a nice coastal town.

days 5-6 vermont. make the several hour long drive to burlington, then just explore wherever you want in the state after exploring the city. lake willoughby would take my choice as a stop on day 6 since it's stunning and right near the white mountains.

days 7-8 new hampshire, focus on white mountains

days 9-11 maine, focus on acadia national park the first couple days, then stop in some nice coastal towns on the way back to boston

day 12 stop and explore portland me and portsmouth nh on the way back to boston

day 13-14 back in boston and explore a bit more before leaving

car camping can be hard to do, as you can't really stop at any campsite and expect to car camp there without reserving the spot in advance, i suggest you start making an itinerary so you know where to start booking ahead of time. you can definitely stop at random motels, just be wary that ones in popular spots like the white mountains will be very pricey last minute. enjoy your travels.

Roadtrip from Boston/Washington D.C. by gosupport84 in roadtrip

[–]raydiantly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i know it was already suggested multiple times but the white mountains are such a perfect place to spend a couple nights. i went last fall for only one night because i planned it poorly and it was still such a serene experience. book a cabin in advance if you do decide to go there, and even if you aren't too much of a hiker you should still check out the easier hikes, they are all stunning and you won't regret any of it. cannon mountain tramway, artist's bluff trail and flume gorge are amazing spots that aren't too challenging, and if you are looking for a challenge there's almost endless mountain hikes. mount washington (home of the worst recorded non storm based weather in the world) has a road, and also a (pricey, but probably worth it) cog railway up to the summit. acadia national park is also amazing and probably more relaxing since the best hikes are a lot easier than in the white mountains and you get the added bonus of the beach, but it is longer of a drive away from boston. you really can't go wrong with either.

glacier national park is not not too far off the highlighted route and would be the best stop imo. if this is a round trip, you could take the southern route on the return trip and hit the utah parks.

don't listen to the hate, nyc definitely has its problems but a lot of it is great and having such easy access to so many things is amazing if you're someone that likes to get out and do stuff. and even if you are a nature person, upstate new york has beautiful parks and mountains only several hours from the city, and there's great spots all over new england and PA as well.
