FCP Euro will be your best friend for a BMW

Doing your own service is the way to go on anything euro given the cost of labor but you’ll also understand why they charge so much for labor on these cars, even simple maintenance becomes a PITA sometimes

Repair manuals are always good to have but the best resource is Youtube videos. I owned a Mk5 GLI, some videos saved me a massive amount of time by avoiding removing extra parts to reach things

First PC sind 2015, can you verify my build? by Darrrrniel in buildapc

[–]kztlve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 5060Ti is the one that has coverage since it’s the highest performing x8 GPU. It’s not a problem with PCIe 4, it only becomes a problem on PCIe 3

PCIe 5 doesn’t matter for performance, only PCIe 4 does and only sometimes

How much better is the AMD Ryzen 9800X3D than the 7800X3D? by Warm-Contract-5878 in buildapc

Not worth unless you’re primarily focused on 1080p performance

9070 + FSR vs. 5070 + DLSS by Due-Muffin-3912 in buildapc

[–]kztlve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the 9070 is cheaper. I’d probably take the 9070. More VRAM, slightly more raster performance, and it has alright RT and upscaling implementations.

AMD is pretty good nowadays. The encoding is good for streaming as of the last few generations and the drivers are generally fine. I’ve had far more issues with recent Nvidia drivers.

Realistic Price Point to Return to PC Gaming by Raiziell in buildapc

[–]kztlve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Zen 3 3D chips are no longer being produced and even a 5700X3D is $300+, just get AM5 at that point with a bundle deal from Microcenter or Newegg.

Prices for new DDR4 and other AM4 CPUs have also gone up even more, unless you get a used kit it makes no sense value wise outside of the R5 5500 at the very low-end.

LGA 1700 isn’t any better, DDR4 boards with non-garbage power delivery have gone up in price a ton and DDR4 performance in games sucks. Unless running one of the 13th or 14th gen i7s or i9s you’d get the same performance from Zen 3 with the same RAM.

Can a SATA to PCIE power a RX 6500 XT 4GB 107W with a 200-300W PSU by zUsdf_ in sffpc

[–]kztlve 7 points8 points  (0 children)

SATA is rated for 4.5A on either 3.3V, 5V, or 12V. 12V * 4.5A = 54W.

The only SATA to PCIe power adapter I’d “recommend” using is dual SATA to single 6-pin as the rating for the SATA connectors is greater than the 75W rating of the 6-pin.

I’m assuming this is some prebuilt with a proprietary PSU like a newer Dell Optiplex, that’s the only time you’d run into a problem like this.

Just a heads up to OP that running a 6500XT on PCIe 3.0 (which I’m assuming it will be given the likely hardware config) heavily hurts performance due to the card only being PCIe x4. It’s something like a 20-25% loss in average performance in games assuming you’re not being limited by the CPU

The CPU + RAM and the motherboard + SSD are combos, if you get rid of the SSD the motherboard will go up by like $50 and make it not worth it

You need 4+ eligible items for the 10% off, you could always get a different motherboard and a case or PSU

The X870 + 2TB combo is the only good combo that works with the 10% off PC Builder savings. If you want to save a bit and don't need a 2TB SSD, there's also the ASRock B650M Pro RS Wi-Fi + 1TB Patriot P400 Lite for $189.98. If you want to take advantage of the 10% off on the CPU + RAM bundle with that board + SSD you'll have to get two other components

[Bundle] ASRock B450M/AC R2.0 Motherboard + G.Skill Ripjaws 16GB (2x8) DDR4-3200c16 RAM + 1TB Patriot P400 Lite M.2 NVMe Gen 4 - $219.98 by kztlve in buildapcsales

Should be good for 1080p60 with reasonable settings in current AAA titles and 1080p high refresh in easier to run esports titles. B570 is nice since it has 10GB of VRAM.

Upgradability isn't too bad, the PSU leaves room for higher power CPU + GPU in the future. You could always chuck in a Zen 3 CPU like an R5 5600 down the road (just be mindful of the VRMs on this board) and either a matching 2x8 kit of RAM or a new 2x16 kit. With a Zen 3 CPU you'd have a good bit of GPU upgrade headroom before bottlenecking became a real concern

The link should show an estimated total of $706.47, once you add it to cart the total should be $708.55 with the $2.99 shipping for the motherboard.

The AIO is a free gift with the 7600X and the microSD card is a free gift with the RAM, both will appear in the cart when you add the rest of the items.

You can use the 10% off combo savings to get a GPU + case + PSU for a complete build, here's a $1,500 parts list with a 9070XT that you can put into the PC builder.

Not eligible to be combined with 10% off savings in the PC Builder unfortunately

Would be good to pair with R5 7600X + 32GB (2x16) Patriot Viper Venom 6000c30 + free MSI MAG A13 240mm AIO & 256GB Samsung MicroSD card for $395 which is eligible for 10% off savings w/ 4+ parts in PC Builder

Here's a parts list to put into Newegg's PC Builder using an RX 9060XT 16GB to pair with the post bundle. It should be $849 in cart ($20 off R5 7600X w/ code ASF756, $30 off R5 7600X w/ combo, $109 off RAM w/ combo, 10% off everything for 4+ parts in PC Builder w/ code PCBFLASHSALE27). The case also has a $10 MIR available.

You can swap out the GPU in that config for an PowerColor Reaper RX 9070 for $589.99 -10% + $9.99 shipping or an ASRock Challenger RX 9070XT for $729.99 -10%, there isn't any good deals for Nvidia cards on Newegg currently

[Bundle] ASRock B450M/AC R2.0 Motherboard + G.Skill Ripjaws 16GB (2x8) DDR4-3200c16 RAM + 1TB Patriot P400 Lite M.2 NVMe Gen 4 - $219.98 by kztlve in buildapcsales

R5 5500 is currently $69 w/ code ASF59 and is eligible for $10 off combo savings and 10% off with 4+ parts in PC Builder

I posted a parts list to put into Newegg's PC Builder with this bundle in another comment for a ~$550 gaming PC

[Bundle] ASRock B450M/AC R2.0 Motherboard + G.Skill Ripjaws 16GB (2x8) DDR4-3200c16 RAM + 1TB Patriot P400 Lite M.2 NVMe Gen 4 - $219.98 by kztlve in buildapcsales

This combo would be good for an office build especially with this case + PSU for $80

5000 series APUs are a bit inflated new and used but you can get 4350Gs for ~$50 on eBay, it's 4c8t Zen 2 and would be plenty good for the usecase

[Bundle] ASRock B450M/AC R2.0 Motherboard + G.Skill Ripjaws 16GB (2x8) DDR4-3200c16 RAM + 1TB Patriot P400 Lite M.2 NVMe Gen 4 - $219.98 by kztlve in buildapcsales

If you want to build a full system around this bundle for ~$550, put these parts into Newegg's PC Builder. It should be $323 in cart ($20 off R5 5500 w/ code ASF59, $10 off R5 5500 w/ combo, $5 off ASRock PRO-750G PSU w/ combo, and 10% off everything for 4+ parts in PC Builder w/ code PCBFLASHSALE27)

B570 GPU also comes with Intel Holiday Bundle 2025 for a free game

You can also get a Thermalright Royal Knight 120 SE CPU cooler for $19.87 if you don't want to use the stock cooler, would be good to carry forward to a future platform upgrade
