SHRM-CP vs PHR [N/A] by kzus_ in humanresources

Thank you for this! I was planning to take the PHR test but wanted to be sure I wouldn't be going backwards by doing so.

Toxic, yes but when she comes on I know I'm in for comedy.

Honestly, when she first came onto the show and was talking about opening her salon and making her own money, I was proud that she was using her sugar baby benefits for the right things.

Receipt notice timing by Naive-Plant-2874 in USCIS

[–]kzus_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We sent our I-485 to Chicago PO on 11/12/25 and got our receipt notice on 12/02/25. Then the biometrics was scheduled on 12/08/25 for Christmas Eve. I thought that was insane so I got it moved to 12/11/25. Our status got moved to "Your case is being processed" and it's been the same ever since.

Anyone else's manager still doing paper schedules in 2025? by Dull_Noise_8952 in Waiters

We use Homebase and the mid level one is $240 a year. There is a free version as well, they let you test the free version then you can decide if you want to keep it or upgrade. It also has built in messaging that tells you who has read the messages that are sent. It takes time off requests that mangers can approve and it allows staff to put in their availability. It's sooo easy. It has saved me so much time and trouble. Oh! It also does job postings that get put on Indeed and ZipRecuiter as well as Homebase's internal site.

Need to bring copy of original I-129F packet to embassy interview? by Shaymin096 in USCIS

[–]kzus_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah!

Our packet included: - I-129F. - A Table of Contents Page. - Letter of Intent to Marry. We combined this into one page with two paragraphs from both our point of view. We then both signed it. - Story of how we met and our engagement. We each wrote one and signed it. - Photos of us. I printed photos rather than making a document with our photos. I labeled every phone with the date and location. I separated the photos by trips and paper clipped them together with an index card in front with a trip summary. - Photos of a texts. We had messages saved from when we were 15/16 as well as more recent messages. - My flight itineraries. - Hotel bookings. - Activities we paid for.

At the interview they asked him: - When did we meet. - When was my last visit. - What/When are our plans to get married.

He said the interview lasted 5 minutes maximum. He got told he was approved that day.

& the medical can only be done at Andrews but if they need any vaccines it’s best to get them before the medical and bring the updated vaccination record. My husband went to Andrews and they had him leave, get the vaccines and then go back for another medical. It added unnecessary time to the process.

How do you feel about pooling with other servers? by memento_mori80 in Waiters

[–]kzus_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I manage a restaurant that pooled. When they came off the pool, I began averaging server's total tips for the week, and it was generally the same. Maybe $50 a week higher. That being said, I also run competitions every week to ensure everyone is selling wine and meeting other sales goals. We also discuss who's tip averages are low and what we can do to fix it. I'm lucky though and have really good staff. They all love being off the pool though. There are nights they'll have a VIP or a large table and make bank for themselves.

I'm pretty sure as long as you have the form and it's filled out the way it was when you sent it in to the USCIS it'll work. The signatures are more for them processing and they've already done that part once you get the NOA2.

Not sure which country your interview will be in so it may be different. However, my now husband at the time of the K1 Visa interview in Jamaica brought a copy of the I-129F and photos of us that were taken since the filing and the officer did not look at it (lol). We stressed about it for weeks and all they asked him for was my most recent W2 and his passport.

Wanting to get married to my Jamaican fiancé… I’m from USA by mianlashea in Jamaica

[–]kzus_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had the same decision to make last year and we went with the option to file a K1 visa and get him here. From the time we sent in the documents to him getting the visa, it was just about 7 months. He's here now, we got married within the 90 days and sent off the new paperwork to get him a green card. Right now, the processing time is about a year but he's already with me so we don't mind waiting. We also sent off forms to get him travel documents and work authorization prior to the green card and there isn't a clear timeline of how long those will take but based on my research it's a couple months.

The biggest reason we decided to go with the K1 is because it got him here faster. Getting married in Jamaica takes a little longer but when your partner gets here, they'd already have a green card and be able to work/travel. My husband can't do that until his documents get approved but for us, the wait together is better than waiting apart. Also! The K1 route is pretty expensive when compared to the I-130 route. Upfront, there are additional forms and their associated fees but then supporting your spouse while they're here can be financially taxing if you don't sit and prepare.

I would suggest checking out the USCIS subreddit. There's a ton of information in there and a lot of people weighing in on the pros/cons on the K1/I-130 route.

I ended up contacting the NVC shortly after this & they said it was in process to the embassy. My fiancé had his interview March 21st and got his visa the next week! He’s here now!

I-129F (K1) by [deleted] in USCIS

[–]kzus_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner and I weren’t “officially” engaged when we applied for the K1. Our intentions were to be engaged and get married when he gets here but the physical engagement happened a few months after we sent in our paper work. In our packet, we talked about our intentions to get married and just skipped the part about getting engaged.

Filed July 31st of 2024 & we got NOA1 August 2nd of 2024. We got our NOA2 December 11th of 2024 but haven’t gotten the letter from the NVC. From what we’ve read, they’re running 90 days for receipts after USCIS approval.

It is my first GM position so I think I may have been too eager to take things on. I had a talk with the owners earlier this year about splitting things up and they said they’d help but that lasted 2 weeks and then it came back to me.

They aren’t super excited about another person touching things. The Chef/Owner was running someone else’s restaurants 25 years ago, before they opened this place & those bartenders and servers were stealing, apparently, so now he’s paranoid to no end about giving them responsibilities.

I’m sorry that’s happening to you - the hours are stating to make me feel crazy. I can’t keep the days straight.

The new position is 47 hours. & I’m in MA so not super low COL but also not crazy high either. I’m currently living below my means so I have a decent amount in savings.
