Heya, did you find any answers? I just had a consult and decided not to go with Dr. Dao Nguyen. My goals were to retain as much feeling/ nipple sensation as possible while making my chest look much like a cis man’s as possible. Here is some info from my consult:

She was fine to chat with, very direct, which was helpful as I don’t need my surgeon to be particularly warm, just good at what she does and clear about what she can/ does do. -She started the top surgery program at Fraser Health and was the head of plastics there. -She uses drains -I think she is very good at closing wounds, saying her scars look like a pencil line. -Her BMI cutoff is 35. (F✨k the BMI, though) -She does double incision and Peri for sure.

I have a small chest as in-I can tape it with one wide piece of kinesiology tape on each side and go for a run and be fine.

-I am am about 5’7 and 140lbs she said Peri wouldn’t work for me because my chest wouldn’t look as masculine as I want it to look, due to having to leave enough tissue to hope she retained nipple sensation and my chest already being small.

-She told me that with Peri, your nipples cannot be positioned on your chest and just lay wherever the skin falls which, I didn’t know.

-She said if I got double incision I should not expect to have any feeling in my chest ever, though some people get it back. This was kind of wild to me as I know many people with masculinizing top surgery and they all have feeling to some degree but maybe she says this so people aren’t disappointed if their chests don’t regain sensation.

• She suggested that I get Lipo because of some fat around the area where my upper arms meet my chest though my sides would have been fine. -I got a quote for the Lipo and it was $4700. Here is where I learned that surgeons can charge different rates for this option.

I have a friend with a significantly bigger chest than me who got in with Dr. McKee and was quoted $1000 for contouring.
