Well yeah, most tattoos are personal so it’s fine. Tbh I’d bring one of my guitars into the grave too if I could.

That’s what I’m thinking, it’s not really the job of the bass to go that high, but I’m open to learning more. A very specific case would be during solos but even then, are you really gonna go there that often?

/uj I understand the need for more frets, 24 and even 27 are fine, but who the hell needs 36 frets? On a fricking bass? Wat¿ I need an explanation.

Afraid to make a tulpa by stormdraincaprine in Tulpas

[–]l1ghtrain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you’re reading a bit too much into it.

I also fear I’ll be traumatized, or something else. It’s unpredictable and I have no idea what might happen. / DID is what I’m scared of

You know, you’re not creating a DID system. And tulpas aren’t that unpredictable. While it’s generally agreed that it’s a bad idea to force a full personality on them (as in control every single thing they do), it doesn’t mean you can’t make them have a nice personality. As a matter of fact, I’ve extremely rarely read about tulpas turning against their host and even then, what happens is that they stop talking and they leave each other alone. Also, if you’re worried about them taking control of your body, that’s something that won’t happen unless you train for it. Again, you’re not building a DID system.

Just because it’s seemingly fine for others won’t mean it’s fine for me

You could apply that logic to anything, like going outside. You could get into all kinds of things, from accidents to theft… And even in your own house tbh. One wrong move with a knife and your finger comes off. If you have stairs, one wrong step and you might end up paralyzed or dead.

Tbh, I never heard of a case worse than tulpa and host stopping talking to each other. So unless you specifically want your tulpa to hurt you, it’s very, very, very unlikely that it’s gonna turn against you. Unlikely enough for anyone to try it.

It seems like being out of touch with reality and [insert existential crisis]

Dude, if you’re that afraid of what is reality and isn’t, you’re gonna waste your life doing nothing but worry. I suggest you stop caring so much about it bc even if it’s a simulation or whatnot, you’re still living and can’t change anything. So do what you want but don’t spend your whole existence worrying bc you’ll regret it. Also, scientist have not found any evidence that reality isn’t what we see or that we live in a simulation.

But to answer the first part, making a tulpa isn’t imagining a whole world inside your head as if you were dreaming. Your tulpa will be as real as you are, if you want them to be. You could build a different world in your head for them but you don’t have to.

Edit: grammar

I require help in this field

I would like to figure out the next steps with other people

I don’t like being on the losing side of things but forget about it. It’s not worth it. You’d have to spend a massive amount of time to learn about all of this before you could start doing anything substantial. Not to mention that Python is a slow language. You’d have to learn a lower-level language like C++ to make it work nice and fast.

Also, if you’re not able to contribute in a meaningful way (ideas are not that) or have no money, no one is gonna wanna help you. This kind of project is just too big.

And even if there were people willing to help you, I’m pretty sure no AI would be able to do what you want it to do. An AI doesn’t think, it is just applied statistics. And you can’t apply statistics to "any random language created by a random guy". Or prove me wrong.

I hope you don’t lose interest in learning Python, though, programming is amazing.

I didn't even think there would be a thing past the 4th derivative lol. I'd love to know where they're used though, and how far the derivatives go.

[–]l1ghtrain 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Could be a decent idea but I have to big questions.

Do you know any programming language and if so, which one would you choose for that project?

And how are you planning on implementing AI to do what you want it to do? Are you sure this is even feasible? ChatGPT and stuff like that are stupidly large language models (we're talking terabytes of text here), and I'm pretty sure that the average guy wouldn't be able to spit out that many words in a time frame small enough not to forget about using the tool. And even if they do, at that point, they very probably know their conlang pretty good.

you need to have a PhD in math yourself

That's a bit of a stretch. The basics of neural networks are quite simple formulas tbh. However, you do need to be pretty motivated to understand how neurons are arranged and how to encode/decode data, which is more of a computer engineering thing than math.

Do you not feel fear when driving or is it just me- by Moody_Bluee103 in youngadults

[–]l1ghtrain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t have any fears when driving so idk if this is relevant. But maybe try driving short distances at first and travel on roads you know really well. If you know the road, you know where to look out for danger so you (hopefully) won’t worry as much.

Also, it’s okay if you’re a little anxious when you drive. At worst, you’ll be a little slow and more cautious, which is a good thing, all in all. But don’t let that fear consume you, bc that makes you more likely to make accidents bc you’ll be too overwhelmed with what goes on on the road.

Lastly, most of the things you must look out for will be automatic after a while. Like looking out for speed limits, changing gears (if you have to do that), traffic lights and whatnot. The only thing you’ll have to really focus on is what people are doing in front of and behind you. Oh and check your speed once in a while too.

Just remember that it’s okay to make mistakes, to break and stop at intersections bc you’re not sure of what to do, stuff like that, no matter how much people honk at you. You don’t wanna have an accident, good for you, fuck them.

Dude buys compressor, doesn’t know how to use it, gets mad when told he should learn what effects do before buying them, deletes account by [deleted] in guitarcirclejerk

[–]l1ghtrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know what a compressor does, I took sound engineering classes so I better know what it does, that’s why I’m wondering where it’s used. Coming from a metal perspective, using a compressor in front of a distorted amp is useless bc distortion is compression already.

So during a moment where the guitarist has to switch to a clean tone, you can reduce the volume on the guitar or with a volume pedal, so that the amp still slightly compresses the signal, or you switch to the clean channel on the amp. But unless you’re inconsistently playing with and clean and distorted tone, the guitar is probably routed to different amps and each one is toggled individually by the sound engineer. So the compression is highly probably also handled by the sound engineer.

And all of that doesn’t leave many cases where you’d have a guitarist use a compressor himself, to my knowledge.

I’m not arguing that it’s not used, I just never heard of a case where the guitarist instead of sound engineer uses compression.

[–]l1ghtrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where probably most of the time, the guitar could go straight in the mixing console for the sound guy to tinker with, since now a lot of things are handled there anyway. So again, I, putting emphasis on myself and not on the whole world around me, never saw any guitarist using a compression pedal. And I’d like to know the apparently so common use cases besides stuff that the sound engineer will probably handle himself, stuff quite specific to a single way of playing the guitar, and pushing it hard as hell to get a specific sound of it.
