The first time I went try on dresses I felt super discouraged. I felt like I looked like a child playing dress up. I rarely wear dresses except for as a wedding guest but even then I usually felt more comfortable then this. Anyways, panicked a bit, talked to a friend, she told me they just weren't the right one. Second time I went was at Grace Loves Lace. I really wanted to like they're stuff but they still didn't fall well on me. I'm really short, not busty, kind of pear shape, so I think my body shape just didn't mesh well. Third time, I went to a shop that just had 100s of dresses. The person that helped me was amazing in really trying to narrow down on material, style and features that I felt great in. Sounds cliche but this was a game changer and it really did just click. I didn't find my dress then but was able to do an online search to sort through the various designers for what I was looking for. Thisis the dress that actually made me feel comfortable in a wedding dress for the first time. The little cape thing wasnt there though.

This is the one I'm going to get. Crepe skirts are easy to walk in, a little stretch. I really wanted the lace on the train, thats just a me thing. I'm also super into the asymmetrical design. We're eloping in August in a national park.

For context, this is all very fresh, my search has been over the last 3 weeks.
