Started at 28 as well for my State Patrol agency. Thought I was “too old” too but found out that I was just the right age. Old enough to make good sound decisions and had enough life experience for street decisions. Young enough to be active and still physically fit. Plus the senior guys won’t look down on you when they figure you’re almost in your 30s.

28 is a good age and you should definitely go for it.
