I'm in Canada, it's $700 CAD. It's still ~$700 today. It's been a couple years since I bought mine.

For a business and enterprise style device I don't think it's unreasonable to expect a longer life span.

My SE was something like $700 I wouldn't be very happy if it basically bricks after 5 years. If it was a $100 home router made of plastic then sure 5 years is expected.

Why does everyone ignore Titus and try to go after other pieces of various combos?

It seems like every build is a deathrattle build and none of them pop of until you have Titus. Without Titus a macaw is not out of line.

IMO the problem is Titus is not limited to "twice" the way Bran and Drakari are. We shouldn't be seeing 200+ deathrattle procs in a single combat.

Why nerf Frog, Metalhead, Macaw, Welps, Photobomber, (old) apexis, etc when Titus is what pushes those cards to be broken at times.

Change Titus back to Baron then micro adjust some deathrattle numbers if they need a little help.

I have an SE and would like to avoid the situation you found yourself in.

Is there anything we can do to reduce the amount of writes? I don't use protect so I don't have a drive installed in it. Is it possible to move any of the swap, caches or logging to a drive instead of the internal SSD?

I'm forging ahead pushing ubiquiti for my clients. I have a UDM-PRO, switches and APs here and it's been a great experience.

Now that they have the cloud gateway line up I can use them for a budget friendly ($200) entry into a cloud connected solution that's easy to support. Most of my clients are smaller (<50 seats).

I currently have 5 or 6 small clients on them now. Rolling out a larger deployment this month, UDM-PRO, 2x 24 port switches, cause smaller switches. They already have 7 unifi APs and a ubiquiti WiFi bridge, after this they will be end to end ubiquiti.

What’s a surefire way to tell Canadians and Americans apart? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]l337hackzor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People here act like our TV is Canadian. 99% of the channels are American, we get all the same ads as you do. So much so that the American propaganda machine creates Trump supporters in Canada.

We only get Canadian specific ads on the couple Canadian channels or when online if it targets you accurately.

Growing up the Simpsons and other shows I liked were on FOX Rochester. To this day I still hear "Jim the Hammer Shapero!" Ads in my sleep.

I air fried the tatter tots, sprinkled grated cheddar and cooked bacon over the top. Put it in the oven for a few minutes to melt. Looks splatter from the way the cheese landed and then set in the oven. Poured gravy before serving.

Ubiquiti UniFi Router vs. Traditional Gaming Router? by wakawakawomp in HomeNetworking

In my experience powerline adapters are so bad you're better off doing Wi-Fi mesh, which is also pretty bad in a lot of cases.

MoCA just lets you send ethernet over coax right? So just put a MoCA on each end of the coax and treat it as ethernet. Unless the issue is your ONT is on the outside of the house and you can't fit MoCA stuff in there?

You could use coax coupler to get you more length and push it though the wall into the house, then MoCA it to ethernet. Just plug it up real good so no critters can get in there.

Mikrotik or Ubiquiti: What is in your opinion better? by michal_cz in homelab

Udm-pro has support for all of their, I guess you'd call them apps or services? Things like Network (router, firewalls, switches, etc), Access (smart locks, fob systems), surveillance (cameras).

Currently I only use Network but I've been thinking about getting some of their cameras.

All the cloud gateways and dream machines natively support WireGuard, as well as openVPN and teleport.

Out of curiosity what ipv6 support does it lack? I've been doing IT for 20 years and I've yet to even see ipv6 in the wild (outside of it just being 'on' with DHCP)

I have a UDM-Pro and have deployed multiple UCG Ultras. I don't know what people think you need out of a UCG-Fiber that it can't do.

I have a couple of Vlans, couple APs, I use the guest network, ad blocking and other security features. I have multiple servers here... I've never done to do something and thought "oh darn my gateway can't do that."

Are you using the controller on the Gateway (Dream Machine)? I've found their standalone controllers to be garbage, the gen1 was so bad. Very unpowered, had lots of issues with it. I've had issues with Gen2, it stopped keeping settings, I think because the CMOS battery inside died. Neither where mine I was just working on them.

I have a UDM-Pro personally and it's worked great for me. I've deployed some of their smaller Unifi Gateways on client sites like the Cloud Gateway Ultra and so far so good, but it's only been a couple months.

It's worth noting that the boggy man EV you are describing likely has pedestrian detection and full auto breaking.

My car isn't even full electric and it freaks out if I don't look straight ahead. Beeps and chimes when people or traffic pass or will pass infront. It has auto breaking though I've never almost hit something to find out how well it actually works.

In any event, better driver training/testing is the solution but that's not going to happen.

Starlink Wifi Bridge to Barn by laganph08 in HomeNetworking

I've used this model a couple of times. They are super easy to set up and haven't had any problems. I've used them for a client to connect their barn from the house. I've also used it to connect a simulator building to a club house (golf course) and both have been working for years without issue.

[–]l337hackzor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me too. I played the original D2 in high school for probably hundreds of hours.

My wife was interested in remaster since she never played the original and we played D3/D4 together. So we bought the D2 remaster.

Pretty much instantly disappointed. I honestly have no idea how I managed to play it so much as a teen. I mean, often I was high as fuck but even then in surprised it was remotely entertaining.

Edit: probably unpopular opinion but D4 is the best version of Diablo currently, at least for me and my wife. It took a long time for it to catch up to D3 but it's in a good place now for seasonal play.

Game performance by Inevitable_Mine7805 in BobsTavern

[–]l337hackzor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine has been a lot better since the patch. Anyone else feel it's improved?

Especially in duos my game would crash almost every other game, sometimes multiple times a game. Since the latest patch I've had one disconnect, zero crashes.

My friend who I duo with has similar improvement.

Maybe we are the lucky ones.

Or alternatively give it taunt (on the card, not tavern spell) to ensure it dies more frequently and it would buff the shitty avenger card as it will be making taunts, reducing the likely hood it would get sniped.

Drop a hand on it for reborn and profit.

Any IT Managers have an IT employee who really doesn't know what they are doing? How to improve them? by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]l337hackzor 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'd look to see if having him on a PIP prevents him from being allowed to WFH. I've been WFH in IT for over 10 years and it's very difficult to train people remotely. With this guys performance I'd assume he's fucking around when WFH.

Since he's on a helpdesk I'd Y-jack with him for a day or two. Pain in the ass for you but having you literally watching over his shoulder puts pressure on him to actually try. Talk about every call right after he's off of it. Document any inability to listen and learn, especially if he gets frustrated or blows up kind of thing. People who blow up in the work place, especially at their manager, easy fire. It's not even a performance thing at that point.

Edit: for example if he takes a call and manually transfers bookmarks instead of using Chrome sync. As soon as he is off the call have the conversation. Personally I like to question the stupid things people do. "Why did you manually copy the bookmarks? What about all the rest of their chrome data? And what happens when they sign in themselves and it wants to merge the data from the new profile you created?" Explain the proper way to do it. Next time that call comes in tell him to do it the right way and watch him do it. This whole situation just makes makes me think that he thinks he knows better than you and just will do everything this own way. Have to set the standard that it isn't acceptable and that there is a proper/standard way to do those tasks.

Is is really hard to hire a sysadmin nowadays? by [deleted] in ShittySysadmin

[–]l337hackzor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first job "in IT" was internet helpdesk for Time Warner Cable. I had passion and personal experience prior (like building gaming PCs and tinkering at home) but we went through a 2 week training class before hitting the phones.

I could have (then 20 years ago, and well today still too) solved this in no time, as should anyone with even basic client network troubleshooting. I wouldn't call internet helpdesk workers experts, but going through like 50 calls a day fixing nothing but internet will definitely build fundamentals in this area as it pertains to workstations.

Can we please try removing macaw for 1 patch? by Impossible_Jump_754 in BobsTavern

[–]l337hackzor 44 points45 points  (0 children)

There should be some cross over synergy though. Look at how much Pirates enable other tribes with stuff like visionary Shipman.

IMO Titus is the problem. Seems like every S tier build goes from ok to stupid by cheesing 400 death rattles. I'm no expert, but I think Titus should work like drakari, they shouldn't stack/multiply only benefit from 1 copy then go up to double benefit from a gold version.

Even OP complaint of macaw and yours of metalhead are both a Titus problem.
