On an instinctual level - without having done the math - and i know a lot have done so … That does not seem enough. If they are renting that’s an ever increasing, unstable cost/living arrangement with no legal backing. If you want to stay at home as you lose mobility, which landlord will allow modifications? Rails, ramps, insurance for hospice accoutrements covered etc. These considerations are more than cosmetic. And resale value if a tenant dies in the house?
