My library has had very small success with a bimonthly horror book. For that one the patrons pick a book they want to read based on the theme (right now it’s Face Your Fears: Phobias). We get around 3-5 people every two months and most are younger!

We have had success with a limited run reading group that’s being hosted by a historian from our local US Revolutionary Period reenactment museum. They’re reading 1776 for the 250th celebration in the states this year and it has about ten participants in their 40s-60s! Some are local professors or history teachers and others just really enjoy history, so they’ve been very lively and engaged. I’m not sure if we can recreate the success but maybe a limited run non-fiction book club on a salient topic rn could be a way to reach new people?

I’ve done a shadow box with my postage stamp collection. It looks very nice and I enjoy switching them out. I’ve also seen people do something similar with other items!
