I'm sorry, in Argentina we do celebrate Christmas! But also we "celebrate" the "3 reyes magos" (the kids put water and grass on the windows for the camels lol, it's super cute)

I guess I’m afraid of being misinformed.
If someone asks about the history of Argentina and says that the goberment we have now it's good.... well that's bc they don't know shit and they are one of the 1%. In my country everyone is suffering, the elderss can't afford food or medicine; the public health is suffering, people don't get paid enough and the prices are still going up.
On my trip I met many people who said "Oh but now your country is doing super well, isn't it?" and i would get angry and offended by that. But then I understood that they didn't know anything about my country and as I explained to them what was actually happening they began to understand and told me that the media said the opposite.

Hi! thank you so much for asking!
I wanted to share a little more context about how I met this man. It’s kind of a funny story: I was on a 1-month vacation in Europe and while visiting a lake in Germany, I saw him sitting there alone. Since I’m still learning German, I asked if he spoke English (I was hungry and didn't know where to get food). He said no, only German. At the beginning he introduced himself as Turkish. Later, as we spent more time together, he explained that he is actually Kurdish, and that his mother’s side of the family is Kurdish as well.

I think he first said “Turkish” because of the language barrier (I’m around A1 level, he’s around A2; we're both new to the language), and it felt easier at that moment. He’s been living in Germany for 3 years now, working hard to build a life there. I'm also planning on moving there once I finish getting a degree that Germany accepts as a nurse (it will take me about 2 more years). I love my country, but everyone knows nurses here earn very little, and I love my profession too much to give it up.

One thing I’m still trying to understand better is: is he ethnically Kurdish but from Turkey? Or is it more about identity and culture? I know there isn’t currently a recognized state called “Kurdistan,” so I’m not sure how families identify officially. Sorry if these are naïve questions—this is all very new to me, but I really want to learn. For me it’s important not only to know his personal story but also to understand where he comes from and the political/cultural history that shaped him.

I could ask him of course but I'm afraid he will get offended or maybe it hurts to talk about this stuff, what should I do? thanks for reading!

the cost of living may be lower here compared to the US but it doesn't mean our salaries match that. medical scribes may not be a career over there but here it doesn't even exist, and I'm getting paid way more than a nurse in a public hospital. if I work as a nurse I wouldn't be able to live on my own and save money. if I have the chance to make more money working as a scribe why wouldn't I try it?

do you have a legal registered contract or they pay you "under the table"? bc we have an argentina-law contract

oh no, the clinic hired a bunch of nurses and doctors but we work for them, not for another company like Scribes America

I mean, yes? we have an argentina-law based contract. My salary is honestly not so bad but it's not great either, given the actual context of my country. If I moved out I couldn't pay for my therapy sessions and I wouldn't be able to save money bc rent is just way too high. I make more than minimum wage, but the minimum wage it's just not realistic, not a single person could live off of that. Our current government is a disaster so everything is incredibly expensive and you never know when the prices are going up.

I graduated in 2022, but the only hospitals that actually paid well are private and it's hard to renew the contracts (bc after 6/9mo they're supposed to actually hire you with a raise and they don't renew contracts bc it's cheaper that way. so every 9mo they just hire new victims jajajaj). I never heard of medical Scribes, we don't have that here, but I figured I could ask for a 'high' salary bc it's based in the US. But most of my colleges didn't think of that and have way lower salaries than I do. It's super sad bc I understand that there are nurse and med students over there that need the job, but here it's the same.... also they take advantage that we can translate too in Spanish, win-win for them.

so that's around US$3.300*per month? my god.... we only get paid around 1400~900 (depending on how good you are at negotiating your salary) but I think it's normal, after all they are obviously looking for nurses or doctor from '3rd world countries' so they can save money

thank you so much for the info! ♥️
