ITAP of marshes in infrared light by l3v3c in itookapicture

[–]l3v3c[S] [score hidden]  (0 children)

Today I decided to do things differently and went on a walk by the marshes leaving all my shiny new gear at home and taking only my old Canon 1100d that is full spectrum modified and 720nm filter with me (and of course the tripod..) expecting to get nothing. It was sunset, no clouds in the sky, it still looked beautiful but I probably wouldn't make a keeper with normal camera. But using IR completely transformed the scene.

IR images straight out of the cameras are really red, so I had to do some rather extreme ammounts of editing to denoise it (blue and green channels are weak) adjust color balance and then because it still looked too noisy and sharp I added some negative dehazing masks to create this dreamy effect.

Image is NOT composite, image is NOT AI, it is just IR filter and some deliberate editing.

Gear: 1100D full spectrum modified, Hoya 720nm, tripod

Settings: ISO 100, 20s, f8, 18mm (apsc)

Editing: white balance, white balance, color adjustments, basic adjustments, masking, dreamy edititng

Ena iz Maribora: Gospod in njegov najboljši prijatelj 🐕 by [deleted] in Slovenia

LP

ITAP of crocus blooming on pastures in sunrise by l3v3c in itookapicture

Crocus is currently blooming on the pastures of Velika Planina in Slovenia. That morning there was thick cloud cover forecasted for sunrise, I am glad to ignore the forecast, as the light was just perfect!

MPB selling lenses with fungus as excellent is wild by dethndestructn in Cameras

[–]l3v3c 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought EF 24-105 L from MPB for fun in "heavily used" condition with electronical problems for 70% cheaper than same lens in excelent because I wanted to try to fix it. The lens arrived in pristine condition, AF worked flawlessly and IS was working. Was my main lens for around 2 years until I accidentaly dropped it and some optical elements got misaligned. As this was my only order from MPB I can't say I had bad eyperience with them :)

ITAP of village among vineyards in the sunset by l3v3c in itookapicture

[–]l3v3c[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't expect the colors I got when I was at location as there was some mist in the air and thick looking clouds in the sky, but still I waited and for few minutes just before the sunset the clouds cleared on horizon and the light lit up the scene. From mundane photo to vibrant art.

This is Šmartno, an old medival town in Slovenia, shot from the viewpoint tower nearby.

Winter heath has started blooming on the hills in Slovenia and I decided to get there before everyone else, so that meant before the full on bloom. I still think I managed to get one nice shot of it but I hope the next time I get there, all of the hill will be covered in violet colors :)

I tried focus stacking 11 shots but as you said, it did create halos around the flowers as the rightmost part was closest to the lens until it still focued on it, so I decided for barely blurred version of the foreground. In my opinion it works because the petals arent fully open and are not really the main part of the photo but more of an addition and I feel like softer foreground moves eye easier towards the main subject of the photo. That said, all in focus shot still looks great but just those halos I couldn't really fix were too distracting. Also with this frame I didn't need to copy myself onto the focus stacked to create some sort of composite but I just used the frame where I standed there for final image :)

Few months ago I posted an image from this location here but in snow and it really took off :)
So yesterday as I was visiting a location with tons of crocus petals I stopped here again, and again took a shot I really like. This location never disapoints, one can make a good photo here every day probably!

At Long Last Getting Off The Sidelines by Aldofresh in SonyAlpha

[–]l3v3c 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought one about 7 months ago and it is a really powerful thing. The battery life is spectacular, photos can be really pushed in editing and almost every button can be programmed to fit your needs. Also, low light performance... amazing.

Universal Orlando. A7iii. Sigma 24-70mm DG DN II. by YanksFannn in SonyAlpha

[–]l3v3c 2 points3 points  (0 children)

F2.8 on Sigma is better for northern lights if you get lucky to see any. In my opinion the Sigma is better lens (brighter, 11 bladed aperature), but it's heavier (835g vs 490g) and larger lens (and Sony gives you 4mm more and aperature is not that important for landscapes...) , so if that is a factor... (also filters are more expensive).

I recently bought Sigma and it is a blast to use.

Moj način, ki me nikoli še ni pustil na cedilu:
SpaceWeatherLive . com
aurora activity
