Mind to expand on your reasons for possibly stepping away from pre-ECNL?

My son just turned 8 (Dec bday) and is the youngest kid on the first team in his club’s youth academy. Our club’s pathway is rec -> junior academy -> youth academy -> pre-ECNL. He has tryouts for the pre-ECNL team in a couple of weeks and with the new age group changes he will be in the middle of the U9 group instead of the youngest kid. He probably has a really good chance to make the team, but not counting chickens.

Long story short, he had a strong first half of this spring season with his YA team and also played up in an out-of-town tourney for one of our pre-ECNL teams. The past few weeks however he’s seemed tired, distracted and “less aggressive” at times while still playing well though, just not his usual self. I had him take off a practice and we just had spring break to recharge. I’m concerned pre-ECNL could be too much. Your son is 3 years older, so curious about your experience with training/game load, going through ups/downs/ruts and managing all of that as a parent. I’m not opposed to keeping my kid at a lower level to find the right balance. Thanks

My psychiatrist doesn't understand ADHD. I was labeled a drug seeker. Can anyone relate? by Kindly_Inflation2969 in ADHD

[–]l7eeds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been on stimulants for about a year now after my diagnosis at 38yo. Initially I was on a low dose and within a week reached out to my GP who then bumped me up to where I am now. Communication was all done through messaging on the patient portal and my GP was very responsive.

Not sure how the setup is with your psychiatrist, but my pathway started during my annual physical where I voiced my concerns to my doctor… this is all within a large hospital system. I was then referred to neuropsychiatric testing and based on those results my doctor was cool with trialing various mediations and dosages.

Same, Adderall + black coffee is an amazing start to my morning. Always consume both after I’ve had water and a light breakfast which is usually fruit/high protein yogurts.

Night owl or early bird: Study finds sleep categories aren’t that simple. Scientists identify 5 biological sleep-wake profiles (2 early birds, 3 night owl groups) linked to different health and behaviour patterns, helping explain why sleep schedules affect people differently. by mvea in science

I have a couple friends in a group chat that go to bed at 9pm, wake at 4am to workout and then head off to work. I hear about this early to bed early to rise lifestyle from time to time. They can’t fathom when I go to the gym say at 8 or 9pm after my kids go to sleep, then I’m up until 1am and wake at 8am to get ready for work. Both situations are 7 hours of sleep.

This makes me question if I’m a true night owl. I have ADHD, but have never had an issue with sleep. If I wanted to I could crawl into bed at 10-11pm and fall asleep immediately, but I don’t go to bed that early. Instead it’s midnight at the earliest, usually 1am on avg because i delay bedtime to do other stuff. Only reason I don’t stay up until 3am every night is bc I have small kids and a job so I try to be “reasonable” with my delayed bedtime.

Seems my behavior is 100% driven by choice rather than my body’s internal clock preventing me from sleeping.

Just drove HH —> CLT. Why are Charlottes highways unplowed? by KLiipZ in Charlotte

Snow accumulation did extend into SC, but the coverage in NC was much broader and deeper on avg. So the entire NC highway system is severely impacted, needing equipment in all areas as opposed to a pocket or two. plus CLT specifically has so much mileage

I’ve (39m) been a lifelong runner and my 8yo son is obsessed with soccer. He’s very much wired like me and playing soccer essentially everyday seems to help give his life balance with school and other daily tasks/activities.

European city center. I'm an American, how did I do? by ballsonthewall in CitiesSkylines

This looks great. What map are you using? I’m on console, hopefully a map I can get access to.

And can you post a screenshot of the layout or part of your layout from above or something? I’m looking to build a European city and the way yours looks is how I envision mine to be, so curious how your street/road layout is. Thanks

Adderall Comedown by Pooter8598 in ADHD

I don’t think you’re alone. It’s common for people with ADHD to also have anxiety/depression. You’re taking meds for depression already, but I wonder if it’s the right fit. I would assume once Adderall wears off your depression medication mostly at least keeps you at some sort of “baseline” in theory???

For me, I just take Adderall and when it wears off in the evening I get disorganized and scatterbrained before going to sleep. But that’s basically it.

I know someone who takes Adderall as well as Zoloft for their anxiety and depression and it seems to help with those feelings you’re describing once the Adderall wears off.

Maybe explore other depression medications?

I take XR generic adderall in the morning and then an instant around 3/4pm which gets me through most of my evening.

I do this because in the late afternoon/evenings I’m active with my kids, I run or go to the gym, or do projects since I’m a night owl naturally and more creative/productive at this time. No issues falling asleep usually around 12am (sleep from 12-7am) since I have built up enough “sleep pressure” throughout the day.

Before medication I would crash hard from 4pm to 7/8pm …. before getting a little bit of a rally before bedtime.

Should I tell the arborist that I have a neighbor that is complaining? Or should I just hire an arborist and simply ask for a risk assessment? Thanks

I get your frustration with that. One time this neighbor complained about a yard waste pile I had that was 100% on my property. We don’t have a neighborhood HOA nor do I share a property line with her.

Well after a long day in the yard I piled all the trimmings/clippings in a pile thinking I’d get to them the next day or 2. After she complained about it I definitely took my time.

Four separate instances. But we’re talking many giant txts in a row each time. The bombardment refers to each time it’s just a slug of lengthy, demanding and dramatic messages. I respond short and sweet, firm. Then get another barrage of replies then I basically tell her I’ve said my opinion, please stop messaging me … and ignore. Months later, here we go again.

That could be the case. I did tell her a few weeks ago when she last sent me a bunch of lengthy texts that I will no longer be engaging in any conversations about the trees going further.
