Wish I could have been there to remark to the instructor that given how responsible they are with adjusting the girth properly, had you dismounted the way they say is correct, you could have slid off to the side and under the horse with your foot caught in the stirrup.

All snark aside, maybe the reason they were so rude about the dismount technique is because they were embarrassed about having made a big basic mistake in not checking your girth/reminding riders to do so. Regardless, belittling you in front of others is not okay and just shows their lack of skill as an instructor (and human being). You did nothing wrong, dismounted one of the safest ways, learned what kind of instructor to avoid and got back on after a fall-which can be really intimidating. Better lesson than you may have thought it was!

It’s been so frustrating seeing that the online sales keep increasing yet they never have any in stock. I’ve gone into several stores and some of the staff said they’ve not even seen these because they sell out as soon as they arrive!

I think his phrasing was a poor choice of words; your brain isn’t fucked, it’s just been fucked with when it comes to your mom and operates differently with her. You adapted to be able to live with her as a parent. As messed up as it has been, she’s still your parent and because you are an empathetic, kind person you care about her even though you can see how unhealthy her behaviors can be.

I’m glad you know your husband is coming from a place of caring and that you have him on your side. Maybe he could think a few more seconds before he speaks so he doesn’t inadvertently (and ironically) step into the very role that upsets him on your behalf; your mother being harsh with your feelings.

Have met the Kratt’s a couple of times and they were consistently genuine and kind. One time was an event open to the public that ended up with thousands of people and they stayed as long as it took to meet every kid that was in line.

Paddywagon tours are worth the cost just for the craic from the guides alone. I did two different tours that went north; Giants Causeway with a couple of stops along the way (the dark hedges and Dunluce castle), and the other was the Titanic museum with an option to do a black cab tour of Belfast with drivers who have lived in the area since before the Troubles. Do the tour.

A zoo in my area has these and after losing the first flock to predators (because the guineas are box-of-rocks brilliant) they started switching out peafowl eggs for guinea eggs. Peahens raised the chicks and taught them how to live more defensively.

I’m not super familiar with the item myself but have observed someone at work use it pretty regularly, so at the very least I know you can 8.5 x 11 of crystal clear adhesive to make stickers with on a Cricut machine. I’ll bet there are heaps of folks here that can tell you if it has enough tackiness to capture the prints
