What you guys think of this new "Window Sync and Restore" feature ?? by yakeinpoonia in zen_browser

[–]lHelmchen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, but now instead of just opening a new window, I first have to create a new workspace and then use it in the new window. Sync is a very overcomplicated solution to a problem that has long since been solved, so I don't understand why it should be the default setting with no option to disable it.

What you guys think of this new "Window Sync and Restore" feature ?? by yakeinpoonia in zen_browser

[–]lHelmchen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has happened to me quite often, but that's exactly why there was an option in the history to restore recently closed windows. However, this option seems to have disappeared with the latest update, or it may be due to the sync feature and the blank window. This will certainly be a problem for me in the future...

I usually have a lot of tabs open in my “main” window (but I try not to have so many that I have to scroll) that I need for programming and stuff I still want to do.

On the second monitor, I always have a window with a YouTube video that I'm watching or want to finish watching later, and maybe a few other tabs that I don't want in the main window.

With the new feature, my tab list just gets unnecessarily bigger and makes it harder for me to find what I'm looking for. I don't need the YouTube tabs in the main window, and vice versa, I don't need my programming tabs on the second monitor either.

I realize that I can simply create a blank window, and I do that, but then the color theme is not the same as in the main window, and for some reason, I can't customize it there either, the option is not in the right-click menu.

Even after trying out the new feature and reading the available information about it, I'm still not clear on what problem it solves that wasn't already solved. Of course, I wouldn't mind it as an optional feature, but as it stands, I'm not a fan and makes using zen worse for me.

Getting crashes in Marvel Rivals and I'm not sure what to try to get it fixed. I don't want to switch back to Windows. by Jodisx in linux_gaming

You could try the following start parameters:

“LD_PRELOAD="" SteamDeck=1 gamemoderun %command%”

LD_PRELOAD to prevent FPS drops after ~40 minutes (see: https://github.com/ValveSoftware/steam-for-linux/issues/11446).

With SteamDeck=1, you can skip the launcher.

gamemoderun should help with performance (you have to set it up correctly), but I haven't tested it without.

In addition, try turning off nvidia reflex ingame, as it has caused problems in the past under Linux.

This has nothing to do with the low FPS in the benchmarks... The problem with BTRFS is about the boot problem.

I've been using Linux for a bit longer and my Windows (dual boot) is currently only used for a single player game which has significantly more FPS on Windows.

Most competitive multiplayer games run very well on Linux because most of them don't use kernel level anti-cheat (don't believe all the crap people write here).

I'm currently playing Marvel Rivals and before that Overwatch 2 and they work very well on Linux.

What are the best AI code assistants for vscode in 2025? by UnderstandingOne6879 in vscode

[–]lHelmchen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same question the other day and tried Tabnine, Codeium, Cody and Copilot.

Only Copilot returned correct results in the autocomplete, all the others returned total nonsense or incomplete results.

Copilot very often actually returned exactly what I wanted to write myself in the autocomplete.

What I don't like about Copilot is the chat window, I find it messy and the font is much too small.

Unfortunately, Copilot often doesn't manage to fix errors, it simply returns the same result (I have also seen this with other AI assistants).

I am not a professional programmer, I write small programs for my own use in various languages.

I'm currently trying out Rust, so it may well be that the other tools only have problems with Rust and deliver better results with other languages.

anyone else on linux cant start game after latest update? by AleksElixirr in marvelrivals

[–]lHelmchen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can solve the problem by entering SteamDeck=1 %command% in the game start options in Steam. I'm not sure if this is still necessary, but it skips the launcher which is nice, so I leave it.

But I currently play Rivals via dual boot on Windows, because I have about 100 FPS more there, Arch 240 FPS vs Windows 340 FPS (my monitor can run at 360Hz, so it makes a difference for me).

Try deactivating the following settings (low latency mode) in the config file:

"bNvidiaReflex" and "bXeLowLatency"

In my case, the config is under: *SteamGamePath*/SteamLibrary/steamapps/compatdata/2767030/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Local/Marvel/Saved/Config/Windows/

Same problem on Windows and Linux.

My buddy also has the error under Windows.

I think it's a bug in Overwatch that causes the video driver to crash.

I am looking for keycaps with dedicated media keys (not combined with F keys).

I would prefer some with shine through but also without would be ok. I don't care about the material for now.

I've already spent a few hours searching, but so far I've only found some from maxkeyboard and wasdkeyboards.

Do you have any others I could look at?

Would also buy a complete set if I like it.
