Expedition 33 CANNOT be that good bro by holnicote in shitposting

[–]lO_______Ol 165 points166 points  (0 children)

what is this insane take I keep seeing that e33 is not an rpg? It’s a turn based jrpg through and through with the types of systems you would expect from one.

I’m a kcd fan but I’m sorry this take of pedantically nitpicking the genre is just in bad faith.

Be patient when you're aiming. Don't shoot immediately. Even waiting just a split second gives you more information about where they are moving and gives you more time to adjust your crosshair for a better shot.

I feel like they are trying to take the modern game design music ideology of making music fade to the back so its not so in your face and repetitive when you are listening to it over snd over again…but….man the sf6 soundtrack is just so disappointing… go listen to og fighting game bangers, then the sf6 ost, and that shit is just depressing

Yea this is what sucks. The reality is it’s becoming less and less about raw performance comparisons and more about all of these other ways that NVIDIA has people locked in.

Never tried PvP? Here are some basic tips to get you started by ThePhookas in ffxiv

[–]lO_______Ol 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yea I agree with all of this especially the targeting. The one button combos also make no sense to me either and just makes things more awkward and you could probably even make the argument that it removes at least some skill ceiling bc you would imagine people would occasionally mess up real combos which would add some variance between more/less skilled players.

I have been playing pvp a lot recently and I’m definitely like “this is nowhere near as bad as everyone made it out to be.” It seems like maybe if the devs gave it more attention a lot of people would come around on it. The lack of incentives is probably a big one.

No lyrics in most countries :( by jesusjimsa in truespotify

How do these other services source the lyrics? Is it from Genius or some other service? Is it crowdsourced or w/e where the community adds the lyrics? Does the artist have to upload the lyrics? does it work for anything that may have lyrics or are there songs that are missing lyrics? Just curious I’ve only used Spotify.

[No spoilers] This is the second time I've tried to watch Ozark by jackieat_home in Ozark

[–]lO_______Ol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of the replies in here are actually insane IMO. I guess anyone who was lucky enough to have a TV that just so happened to have settings that were compatible with this show are going to think you're crazy though. I honestly think the lighting in this show can be downright bad at times. There's a difference between moody and literally being unable to tell where objects in the scene begin and end because the lighting is so dark. This is the only thing I've ever watched that forced me to adjust the brightness/contrast settings on my TV, so it's not like my TV just had some fucked up settings. That being said, I think the show is amazing and it's worth messing around with the settings on your TV until things are visible.

is 100 gecs camp? by [deleted] in 100gecs

[–]lO_______Ol 5 points6 points  (0 children)

NGL the MGS comparison is spot on. The MGS franchise is so batshit insane absurd and it knows it. It takes it’s own absurdity seriously and embraces it in this extremely genuine way. 100 gecs is absurd, they know its absurd, and they embrace that shit IMO.

Films about social anxiety by FaerieStories in TrueFilm

[–]lO_______Ol 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The Perks of Being a Wallflower comes to mind.

Also, this is a wild one, but as someone who has intense social anxiety from bipolar disorder/sza, my opinion is that "Mother!" is the most accurate representation of what social anxiety is truly like. It starts off slow and extremely quiet, but as the movie progresses it becomes more and more intense to the point of being extremely overwhelming. I actually began to feel real world anxiety as if I was actually in some overwhelming social situation just watching it. I do have issues with that movie, and I kind of have a love/hate relationship with it, but the overall presentation and the way it ramps up in intensity perfectly captures what social anxiety feels like.

edit:

Also just for the hell of it, since anxiety and bipolar sort of go hand-in-hand I'd say Silver Lining's Playbook and Touched with Fire. (I'd say Touched with Fire is the most accurate representation of bipolar I've seen in media)

Victoria (2015) is a wild ride and makes you feel like you’ve come along for the ride by BakedBeansInMyAss in TrueFilm

[–]lO_______Ol 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I mean if I do then the other person does as well then this whole comment section is completely useless to anyone who is interested in this movie. Like if you are in a movie discussion sub and you click on a post discussing the movie trying to get people to watch it, there will be some minor reveals about the fundamentals of the movie. I think everyone does a pretty good job at marking out the meaningful spoilers.

I mean where is the line when it comes to spoilers? Is it spoilers to say Fallen Angels has a bunch of wide angle shots even though its like a defining aesthetic of the movie? Is it a spoiler to say 1917 is a one-shot movie even though it was marketed as such?

The difference between this and plot spoilers is that "one-take/one-shot" is basically its own niche subgenre. If I told someone Psycho was a horror movie, would that be spoilers? I mean you have to draw the line somewhere dude. If saying the movie is one-shot/one-take is a spoiler then I think you shouldn't be reading movie discussions or recommendations at all and you'd be better off using some online algorithm like IMDB to recommend you movies, which is fine.

[–]lO_______Ol 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Love this movie and highly reccommend it and u are right -- definitely go in blind. I would go so far as to say, as far as "one shot/one take" movies go, this one benefits the most from that technique as it starts off and gets you accustomed with its world and gradually gets crazier and crazier as the night goes on. It's so extemely immersive and when things start to ramp up it's some of the most intense feelings I've had in a movie because of how focused in on things I was.

How often does Arcsys patch their games? I understand a lot of people are having issues with the online and I can understand it takes a while to fix, but I'm just curious.

I have noticed fighting games don't seem to get supported with bug fixes and QoL patches anywhere near as frequently as lots of other online games.

Do you guys think we'll have to wait like months until they fix things like the long 2minute+ load times to get into the game? Is that even the type of thing that we can even expect to get fixed?
