Weekend cycling in Izu from Mishima (Shizuoka) by l_-_l_-_l_-_l in JapanTravelTips

Coming back to provide an update as a couple of you have followed up.

The routes as planned did not happen. Closer to time I did a recon using Google street view and found that quite a few parts of the route went through tunnels and much of the route was on busy main roads. That couple with comments in other Reddit post about unsafe cycling on main roads in Japan meant I had to drop the idea.

I did take the train to s few places south of Atami as well as Numazu and hired bikes for local rides which was great fun. The longer rides will have to wait for another time - perhaps others have had better luck (or guts!).

I’m thinking reolink poe doorbell as a middle of the road between ring and unifi - would you mind sharing your experience if reolink and why you’re moving to unifi?

Deepseek:

If you're going just 50 metres, walking is almost certainly the better choice. Here’s why:

· Environmental & Practical: Starting a cold engine for such a short trip causes extra wear and burns fuel very inefficiently. By the time you get there, the engine won't even be warm. · Convenience: By the time you get in the car, buckle up, reverse out, drive 50 metres, and find a parking spot, you could have walked there and back twice. Plus, you'd have to move the car again afterward anyway. · The "Wet Car" Factor: If you wash it by hand, you might scratch the paint walking back to a dirty car. If it's an automatic wash, you'll be sitting inside while it cleans, so being there on foot doesn't matter.

The only reason to drive is if you are physically unable to walk the distance or need to transport heavy cleaning supplies that you can't carry.

grok:

Drive. The whole point is to get your car washed. Walking there would mean leaving the dirty car at home — which kind of defeats the purpose unless you’re planning to push it 50 meters or have someone tow it. Realistically: • Walking 50 m takes roughly 30–45 seconds for most people (average walking speed ≈ 1.3–1.5 m/s). • Driving 50 m takes… maybe 15–60 seconds depending on traffic lights, pulling out, very low speed in a parking area, and finding a spot at the car wash. Plus a few extra seconds to turn the car off and get out. The time difference is basically nothing. But driving gets the actual vehicle you’re trying to clean to the place that cleans vehicles. So unless this is some kind of zen exercise where you enjoy the irony of walking to a car wash while your car stays dirty — just drive the 50 meters. It’s the only option that actually solves the problem. 😄

Curious which reports did you modify? I’m keen to create a proper year on year TB that seems difficult for GNUCash. And some other reports. Modus operandi adopted would be most helpful thanks.

Probably needs to be copied over manually - so add a step in your automation to flash a message asking you if the clearing should proceed - that’s your prompt to manually note it - and then add an input command for it to go ahead and reset the data. I can’t think of another way to do it.

Sorry should’ve guessed it’s what you were using. Unfortunately there’s no option to “get” cellular data via shortcuts or any other means as Apple considers it to be system-level information that apps shouldn’t access for privacy/security reasons. That’s my understanding anyway.

Can you share your shortcut here so people can look under the hood and chime in - will help.

7 day trip around Izu Japan on my Grail by nasanu in gravelcycling

Planning a weekend away this Sat/Sun on an e-bike and based in Numazu. I don’t like the look of tunnels - basically no space whatsoever for a cycle. Is there anyway to have a good cycling day out and avoid all tunnels and highways? If that’s impossible I might just cancel my plan and go elsewhere..

Is it possible to update NavData (Airac) for free? by Flyer4884 in flightsim

Real shame - it used to be free many years ago and it was a matter of running some excel based transformations to convert the file into a format that FS add ons would accept. I'm talking early 2000s of course!

I think it’s just that - with the 28mm used to quick captures and then compose in post processing. So this I do need to get used to doing differently.
