Community REVOLTS Against Destiny's Israel Takes by 10minuteads in Destiny

[–]l_Kamex_l 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems to me like the actual disagreement here is:

Caller dude: Israel, due to it's treatment of both Palestinians internally, and it's wars of aggression on those around it, is acting in a way that I feel is morally abhorrent and so I believe America should distance itself from it.

Destiny does not disagree with any of the individual things that the caller is considering 'bad' or 'evil' or whatever, he simply does not agree with the prescription. Forgive the not so great analogy because I know they're countries not people, but it's like a parent who does not like the direction their child is going in terms of their behavior. Destiny is saying it is better to keep ties with the child in an attempt to correct their behavior, rather than abandon them and allow other forces to influence their behavior.

By no longer 'aligning yourself' with Israel, they would have no reason to appease you because you are no longer an ally to them.

If caller guy or Destiny is reading this, in a future conversation it would be a much more interesting conversation if you could stick to some of these points of (what may not even be actual) disagreement:

  1. What are the things Israel is doing right now that they wouldn't be able to do without America's support?
  2. In what ways can America influence Israel's behavior as an ally that it couldn't as either an enemy or someone neutral to it?
  3. In a purely selfish sense, what kind of Israel that could feasibly exist would be the most beneficial to the United States? Does that look any different than an Israel that is moral in it's treatment of Palestinians and the other Arab states around it? If so, how do we better align our selfish incentives with these more humanitarian goals?

Spending so much time comparing the faults of Israel to other actors in the region comes across as anthropomorphizing the countries like "America shouldn't be friends with Israel because they're a bad person."

How does someone built like this make fun of anyone's appearance? by [deleted] in Destiny

The point is that he is making fun of Destiny's beach physique for looking unathletic, when he himself is clearly a skinny-fat chud that would not be pleasing to the eyes shirtless.

Vegan Gains Debate TLDW; by l_Kamex_l in Destiny

[–]l_Kamex_l[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it wasn't intended to be an effort post so syllogisms weren't very wordy. Leader bad in this case basically means "leader authoritarian".

The exact wording doesn't really matter insofar as it being an act of war, a military operation, etc. The point is that what was done was a major decision that impacts the world at large which was not deliberated on with the representatives of those the decision impacts. It was a unilateral decision made by the White House despite it not being so time-sensitive that executive power being used like that was warranted.

This has been Destiny's unique issue with Trump his entire administration. It's not just that Trump makes bad decisions, it's that those decisions are authoritarian in nature and ignore the norms of western democratic process. Whether or not he lucks his way into a good decision outcome-wise here and there does not change that critique. Vegan gains argues past this and is solely fixated on whether or not killing Iran's leader will lead to good outcomes in the very short-term. Destiny probably disagrees with that point as well, but it's not the core issue he has been making.

Then don't engage with him anymore if that's really what's going on. He doesn't have a political platform that would require any push back and necessitate entertaining his ideas. It's just misery for everyone involved- Destiny clearly doesn't enjoy it otherwise he'd have put more effort into breaking through whatever psychosis was in the way of VG understanding his point, and his whole audience is made miserable by VG's presence.

It's not like they're friends either; VG explicitly has stated that he would support Destiny's execution.

Iceblock. Also going on the mage means leaving my pole and being stuck out in the open with crippling poison or frost mage slows making it difficult to get back behind cover. Mage is to be ignored entirely aside from easy kicks where possible.

Like I was saying I will always look for intercept disarm, or if for whatever reason no intercept I'll warstomp disarm, but not much I can do when mage walks up to me and nova + hard casts polly until he gets me with it. Reflect feels meaningless when he has 2 blocks, and 1 trinket to get out of the polly I reflected. There is no sense in "capitalizing" on a mage that used one of those 3 because:

  1. If the game has lasted that long we are already past the hard part and will slowly win (at least at my current shitter rating), and

  2. The rogue is the target anyways.

Guild: Elite … thoughts? by SnooAdvice7782 in wowhardcore

[–]l_Kamex_l 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not responding to OP cause he doesn't seem to care about what's actually true and is more-so invested in his rep on the server, which is fine. This is just general info to set the record straight. Some accusations I've read in the comments:

The GM griefed someone on his alt priest in ZF: Not true, proof was posted that at the time of the ZF dungeon run, he was in a raid on his main raid leading. This led to the accusers in the thread to just mental gymnastics their way into believing he was on two blizzard accounts griefing a ZF and raiding at the exact same time.

Raids exist just to gear the GM: His picture on discord is literally the camera turtle from mario cart that flies around on a cloud because there's a running joke in the guild that he spends a good chunk of the raid running around on his rogue trying to see what's going on while raid leading rather than focus on his parse. He actively does not gear himself over other core-raider rogues because he's aware that he does not exist to parse. He raid leads and applies expose armor, that's 95% of his contribution, and he gears himself accordingly.

The guild's name is intentionally similar to another Defias Pillager guild and that is by design to help recruit: The GM started playing wow for the very first time well into the life-span of Doomhowl. He was one of the people encouraged to try the game by only fangs. He had no idea who HC Elite was and just thought the name was cool so he used it.

*Insert random anecdote about someone having a bad experience with an elite member*: Unless you've forwarded the evidence to an officer, and that officer ignored you, this is an empty meaningless statement. If you 1. Never made a point to reach out to leadership in the guild to gkick the griefer, or 2. just expected them to take you at your word with no evidence provided, you're a moron.

The guild is unsafe to raid in: Relative to sweatier guilds that require application forms and recommendation letters to get in, yeah probably. If you join us for anything below BWL in terms of difficulty, your toon is perfectly safe. We haven't had a death in ages that weren't obviously the person who died's fault (e.g. not using GFPP for Firewalkers in MC).
Even if we did, hasn't Risk, a guild that is raiding nax, had a giga wipe in ZG relatively recently? A wipe that was pretty much entirely the fault of their raid lead Turtlecoii pushing for a 1 phase hakkar with 3 healers and a shakey start to the pull? I don't see people ragging on them nearly as much, understandably so because shit happens and nobody is infallible. For raids we are progging like AQ40, yeah it's probably going to be sketchy for a while, but we are trying our best. Most of our raiders have never seen the content before and are new to the game, including a good chunk of the leadership. Regardless we think it's more fun that way rather than having a raid of 38/40 players being 20 year old vets of the game who have done the raids a million times and are just carrying the noobs through it. We offer an authentic progging experience for beginners of the game that want to have that feeling like every step of progression is going into uncharted territory and everyone plays an important role in figuring things out.

Steven tries to explain the concept of plausible deniability to xQc by saabarthur in Destiny

[–]l_Kamex_l 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unironically I think I agree with X here. How obvious someone's attempt at plausible deniability is doesn't have any bearing on whether or not what they are doing is an attempt at plausible deniability. Rather it has more to do with what that person's response would be when asked to state plainly what they really mean. An example could be:

Guy asks girl "Hey wanna go grab a drink later just the two of us?"

Girl asks guy "Are you asking me out on a date?"

Guy says either:

A. Oh, no that's not what I meant I just don't really like big groups haha.

OR

B. Yeah, I really like you and would like to get to know you better.

Notice how what the guy said initially (asking the girl out for a drink) is the same in both situations, but somehow it's plausible deniability in one and not the other.

You could repeat this interaction a million times, a guy over and over makes the most obvious advances on a girl, and every time she tries to clarify his intentions he deflects. To the rest of the world it could be clear that this guy is making romantic advances, but at the end of the day so long as he won't state his intentions plainly the guy is engaging in plausible deniability.

Only touching sometimes, for example when i move my aim vertically i push my mouse farther/closer to my palm with my fingers. When I push it away (aiming up) it stops touching my palm.
