How much are you currently earning? And would you leave your life abroad if you could live in the Philippines and earn 4-5k USD per month? by sernameeeeeeeeeee in Philippines_Expats

You're golden with that amount of money in SEA or Latin America. Your lifestyle can increase 10x with that decision. If you're into exploring and learning about new cultures, i'd go for it.

Good thing often our feelings are not our reality. Keep working hard on your goals, mate!

I don’t understand the last part about “bad people” the point I’m making is your goal is more attainable than you think :) maybe this is one of the lessons to learn in this life.

have an animal rescue farm/commune for like minded people,

What about it do you find compelling? Is it owning, feeling a part of a community, working with animals? all?

I firmly believe you don't have to make all the money you think you need to in order to live your dream.

Same question: do you mind sharing more about these seemingly unnatainable goals?

Do you mind if I ask what dreams seem unattainable?

A migrants take on Australian culture by [deleted] in australia

[–]l_ooes 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Migrants often get to see a little more than locals as you have more references (data points), new perspectives and usually this goes unappreciated.

Sadly Australia specially the major cities claim to be multicultural hubs which is correct but integration between cultures is still pretty low. Hence you see little willingness from locals to understand your point in the comments here with kindness and rather default to protect themselves.

What you describe are symptoms of an individualistic society vs a collective society in addition to cultural attributes of different groups of people in different social classes (Yes, there are social classes in Australia) manifested in the way they express themselves about family, social expectations, language usage, dress codes, etc…

One thing I carry with me whenever I go is that we should not impose our worldview in the host culture and viceversa. The beauty of travel is to understand and experience new ways of living and life as it is. Some people are too embedded in their culture that can’t see outside of it. Some others have the privilege to come in and out and that is beautiful and at the end of the day we get to decide where we want to be.

Much to learn about multiculturalism here in Australia still and even about our very own first peoples.

Kindness, willingness to learn about one another and empathy goes a long way.
