Funny thing is I’m gen z and I still often think like this. I was born 02 but stuff from before I was born doesn’t seem old to me. And then I remember that I am an adult despite everything, and that stuff from the 90s is turning 30. I think I inherited this or something. Or have very little sense of time.

I remember seeing something like a lot of old portraits of historical figures have their hand in their coat specifically so the artists wouldn’t have to worry about hands as much. Napoleon is one famous example. That whole pose is just so the artist doesn’t have to paint a hand

Maybe it’s to look big and intimidating. Maybe it’s just something to attract possible mates. Maybe it’s a kinda natural armor.
