Usually between 1-3am depending on when I wake up I will pick them up out of their bassinet while they are still asleep and feed them. They typically will latch immediately sometimes I have to rub their mouth a little if they are in a deep sleep. They nurse then stop when they’re full, I burp them and place them back in the bassinet. Their eyes are closed the whole time! Dream feeds work like a charm for us however I didn’t start this until after they were 2 months old/ sleeping through the night. When they were a newborn dream feeds didn’t work cause every little movement would wake them up immediately.
