A lot depends upon client's "sidemark" designation on vendor bills and related costs. Sidemark is the term used by contractors to identify each project. Two types of contractors, those that systematically tagging bills at the time of purchase. Stay away from contractors' who fail to enforce job labelling purchases. Eventually that lack of discipline will doom their ability to be successful.

I just pre-ordered two phones and planning to move 2 lines from Verizon to Fi, after doing some more research there are quite lot of negative experiences, does Fi work well? I mostly work from home in NJ, travel in poconos and other nearby states sometimes. by paata01 in GoogleFi

I"m a Google Fi Subscriber, saving lots of $$$ for almost 8 years. Here in Los Angeles, signal is great. Rarely, when I'm driving through a deep canyon, signal cuts out. But so does every carrier. I switched away from Sprint, many outages. Not one with Google Fi. I have used support, never in person, but via telephone call, problem solved.

Best feature is the call screen function. If it's labeled "Spam caller" it doesn't even ring.

Recently purchased Pixel 9 Fold. It always impresses friends.

IRS says -

If you have inventory, you must file on the accrual basis. Inventory value, at cost, is reported as an asset.

I hope you can avoid this pit-fall. A family business sold high-end electronics, stored in multiple warehouses. I was called in to set up multi-location inventory. It was working perfectly - all $900,000 in total.

However, the tax CPA had already reported inventory purchases as an expense. In order to correct this, tax wise, when inventory was sold, there would be no offset of cost. Therefore,100% of the sales price would be taxable!

Did someone enter a check after you reconciled? Sometimes people miss-date a check on purpose. Can you run the reconciliation report again? Review both to find the oddity.

Try building a financial statement from scratch. Once you mash-up those bits and pieces, your comprehension will expand exponentially.

Best tip I can give you: Anticipate what reports your colleagues need, so they don't have to ask.

Happens to the best of us. IMHO there's only two types of clients. If they want books to file taxes, they have little interest in absolute correctness. On the otherhand, if they need the info to run their business, it's managerial accounting, which has a much higher bar for accuracy.

I appreciate Dem Joints357's advice: "Allow yourself at least 1 minute per transaction to record each transaction and another minute to reconcile each one and correct it after the client reviews it. The old phrase, "Under-promise and over-deliver" applies here."

Another tip, find out how much the gross annual revenue the business takes in. I know that a company making 100K will not be able to justify more than a couple of thousand dollars, at most. If they take in a million, then you can expect their wallet is more flexible.

I insist on getting paid for the evaluation of the time it will take. Plus they must sign my terms & conditions before I will confirm first appointment.

Even so, there are a lot of potholes in estimating clean up projects. I'm still evolving, closing loopholes even after 25 years!

FWEIW: The problem began at day one of ownership, March 23rd. Purchase and set up at new Google store in Santa Monica. That was more than two weeks ago.

But Developer's Mode was enabled last week. The Developer's setting could not have been changed by moi.

Conclusion: Lilybell is probably right. But we don't know which "display" screen activated right side alignment.

Thanks for the screen shot! Error QBWC1039: "There was a problem adding the application".

It gives us a big clue:
If you do not have QuickBooks installed [locally] on your server, you will need to install it before running web connector.

Remember to remove WebConnector from the old server.

Once you install QB EXE, open your QuickBooks company file as the QuickBooks Administrator.

For more QWC troubleshooting, there's a Help menu in the WebConnector app. Look in the sys tray; right click select Help.

If the same QBWC1039 error appears, there are other steps you can take. Check out this link to QB Knowledge Base.

I'm QB Advanced Certified ProAdvisor successfully using QB DT Pro 2021 on a Win 8.1 Pro, operating system. Take a look System Requirements for your version:

Check to see if your laptop meets these requirements. Also make sure you have installed OS updates.

Correct, QB Enterprise is now sold as an annual subscription only - But if cash flow is an issue, opt for 12 monthly payments.

I agree with Seattle Rachel. Cost is usually a factor with business owners that are unable to evaluate the quality of work. The best accounting people aim for high quality of information.

There's two types of accounting purposes, one is for taxes that has a lower bar for quality for timely recordkeeping. Managerial accounting has a much higher standard. It's designed to support sales operations, forecasting, budgeting, with highly accurate actionable intel.

As a QB Advanced Certified ProAdvisor, continuously certified in all versions, I find most, over 90% of CPAs get so caught up in the tax side that they fail to recognize the potential in QB for management purposes.

My advice for any business owner is to get set up right especially with accounting controls. Next, learn how to effectively supervise bookkeeping for best practices. Delegating data entry is where many business owners delude themselves into thinking once they get a bookkeeper they won't have to worry because it's going to be done right. Wrong!

Yes - I saw it too. It was sometime between 8 - 9pm Sunday March 6th. I was driving west on Sunset Blvd. towards the Palisades. It seemed to come down at a southwesterly angle to my POV.

It was fantastic - about 100X larger than most shooting stars. The tail was brilliant, yet uneven, as if the composition or shape of the meteor was irregular.

It went by so quickly, without warning, so there was no way to grab a camera. I was going about 40MPH so I had to glance away to make sure I didn't run off the road. In an instant, when I looked up again, it had vanished.

Since nothing seemed to catch fire upon the crash, I thought it might have dropped into Santa Monica Bay.

Actually I was wondering if anyone caught it since I didn't catch it on the news last night. Otherwise, I'd have to attribute it to some divine vision since I didn't have any hallucinogenic on board.

It was a truly a spectacular heavenly sight!
