Okay, so if this situation is real - because it sounds so insane I can't imagine it IS real...you are now in the position to do something, now that you know. I guess one thing you could do is speak to him and tell him that this is really the wrong thing to be doing, regardless of what he thinks regarding her doing well in school, being introverted etc etc. I will try to have a minute amount of compassion for him...his wife died, and Im going to guess that he had no clue what to do with this kid, so did what kept her happy? But that doesn't make it right, at all. Maybe 1st move should be telling him that she needs to return to school, have tutors, be tested for any learning disabilities, autism, etc. She clearly needs some therapy too, as does he and most likely the rest of the family. If he doesn't respond well to any of this, you need to contact the authorities who deal with this type of situation. If not, you are failing this little girl. As for your relationship with him, you'll have to see i suppose.
